Majesty of the Seas

5 Night Key West & Havana Overnight (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: November 19, 2018

Ship: Majesty of the Seas

Cabin type: Oceanview

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

Havana is tired looking but historic. No credit cards are accepted and US dollars pay a 10% penalty both ways. However, US dollars are only accepted for tips but not for service or items. There is also an additional $75/person visa charge which is another Castro rip-off to penalize visitors. Not a very welcoming country that has so little to offer other than historic squares and 1950's cars.

Don't understand why we didn't get 2 nights here instead of floating around in the sea for a day and a half. Only thing I can think of is casino and on-board shopping for the cruise line to make more money.

Havana is tired but historic. No credit cards allowed and we refused to pay the penalty charged only on US dollars. So, we did not exchange money and had to book an excursion to get off the ship. US dollars are only accepted for tips but not for service or items. There is also an additional $75/person visa charge which is another Castro rip-off to penalize visitors. Not a very welcoming country that has so little to offer other than historic squares and 1950's cars.

As an American, I paid for the.visa and booked my own tours, did some solo exploring and would go back tomorrow.

How many times are you going to repeat the same thing. 🙄

Too bad you’re not Canadian, we are treated like royalty and can come and go and stay as long as we like, no Visa required for us either unless we’re on a cruise and then we are treated same as Americans

Why did you even pick this itinerary? Like onlysail said you could’ve avoided all this with just a little research. I knew all this information and I haven’t even been on a Cuban cruise yet.

You could have known this if you were bothered to research this before hand
