Review summary

The cruise started off fine, with the normal check in procedures and such. Rooms were ready immediately when we boarded at 1:30pm. We had lunch at the buffet dining room ans they had a variety of food choices. The first thing I notices is that the dining area resembled a hospital cafeteria. Then we went to our tiny stateroom but were presently surprised that all our luggages were there waiting for us. Then the biggest diappointment was when we opened the door and realized how tiny the room was. The rest was already mentioned in the seperate categories for the review.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
The agents at the terminal were very helpful, organized, and thorough in their security check in procedures.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food in all the restaurants were fresh and hot when served to you. I've been on other cruises that offer more variety of restaurants but overall this was good. This ship had a deli, pizzeria, buffet dining room and the formal dining room. They had a Johnny Rockets but it was an additional cost.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was a little something for everyone. Great parties hosted by the cruise director.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows were nicely put together and everyone involved was very professional.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The waiters and house keeping staff were extremely hard-working, kind, and humble. They went above and beyond to get to know us and make us feel comfortable. 3 stars only because the customer service staff was not up to par. Long lines to get issues resolved, lack of empathy, lack of compensation for inconveniences they themselves caused. Not a good experience with customer relations staff at all.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is outdated; the furniture, the light fixtures, rust in bathroom fixtures, dingy faded carpets, and the list goes on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Extremely small interior cabin; no way they should allow 4 people in one stateroom of that size. No where to store 4 suitcases, walk, get ready, or anything. Two people literally had to hang out in the hallway while the other 2 people were got ready inside the room. Old gum smeared on the comforter on one of the bunks which leads me to believe they don't change, wash, or inspect linen prior to passengers coming on-board. A/c that wouldn't cool, a safe that wouldn't open, a toilet that wouldnt flush, stained towels and mattresses. Just completely frustrating and worse part was no sympathy or compensation from customer service.

Ship tip

Take notice of the state room sizes/ measurements before booking so you're not feeling like sardines in a tiny tin can once you get there. This is what the customer service rep kept repeating when complained about the room size, "well the room measurements are posted on the website before you book". Seriously?! So in other words, make sure you have a tape measurer handy before you book a room.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

1 out of 5
Its an average cruise terminal. Nothing to see or do while you wait to board.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
Not much to see here unless you do an excursion, which are very costly to start with.

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

5 out of 5
Absolutely beautiful water, clean facilities, and wonderful service.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Ran very smoothly and quickly.

Do your research, That simple!!

Sovereign Class ships have about the smallest cabins at sea, I think bout 119 sq ft where most ships are at 160 to 180.. I did a few cruises on her sister Monarch of the Seas and the same small cabin, head board of the bed is back wall of the ship and foot of the bed is the wall to the bathroom. Cozy :-) I still had good cruises on her with enough room to sleep and shower for a short cruise.

Plenty of storage under the bed. Did you do any research when you booked your cruise? The room size is on the site, plenty of reviews advising that rooms on Sovereign class ships are tiny. You get what you pay for.

We go almost every month on her... we love the ship...

Very old ship. Was nice when we sailed her in 1992.

3 stars not bad. However, everyone needs a little space and it sounds like you slept in a outdated closet at the Salvation Army! That’s not right. The cruise line should have given you some compensation
