For my first, and my honeymoon, I was heavily disappointed. I felt incredibly disappointed in the entire experience. I was told that because it was my Honeymoon, the ship would be aware and we would receive special surprises in our room. I waited until day 3 and was told by Guest Relations there was no such notification , but Royal Caribbean sent a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room a couple hours later and an apology. The ship advertised in the pictures on the website was so much more luxurious, newer and many amentities. I found out we were on one of the oldest , few amentities, and a 2 out of 10 on the food.

Food and Dining

Main dining staff was amazing and the food was much improved in comparison to the buffets. The buffets served us nasty frozen pizzas and nothing extremely appealing. Everyday we were served the same menu- burgers and hotdogs. Terrible!
Onboard Activities

I'm 20 weeks pregnant and I was so looking forward to relaxing in the pool, but wasnt able to because the pool was extremely small in comparison to the mass amount of people. I did enjoy my couples massage but hated that immediately after the massage a high pressure sales pitch was pushed on me for 10 mins - so much for relaxation! I did enjoy the art Auction I attended but was slightly disappointed that I won, "free art," but I had to pay for the shipping of $35...not really free to me. Bingo was a scam. They didn't tell you it was one winner of $300 and that was it. Our game lasted only 5 mins. They has to cancel the theater show the first two days and once you got to enjoy it, although talented , you were kinda already over it. There were apparently parties going on, but unfortunately you didn't know unless you physically stayed at the pool bar. Im pregnant and can't drink, so I missed some fun.
Entertainment

As I said earlier, the show was canceled the first two days and once you got to see it on the third you were already over it.
Service and Staff

The waiters, Oren and Dmytro in the main dining were exceptional. My husband was impressed with a bartender on the 14th floor. Room steward was nice but again, the lack of honeymoon notification between and the Royal Caribbean, caused a lack of Lister in treatment.
Ship Quality

It was clean but 25 years old.
Cabin / Stateroom

I almost cried when I walked in! It was a closet with a small square for a window! I paid an upcharge to be in an Oceanview Stateroom. I thought, judging by the pictures advertised that the room would be much larger, luxurious and better treatment.
Ship tip
Don't set your expectations too high, unless you're a college kid on a budget who will drink the cruise away. Be prepared to pay an extra $200 just to drink welldrinks those 3 days. Invest your money in the excursions but learn to dodge the crowd of peddlers who will invade your space. I got off of the sailboat of my excursion, and a woman jumped on me tried pulling my hair out of my ponytail, trying to braid my hair and I kept trying to explain to her I was pregnant and prone to headaches, she persisted and I felt so uncomfortable, I pulled out a $20 to get her away from me. We had to walk a half mile while being followed by peddlers. I was so uncomfortable and upset by the time I got back to the ship.
I just got off Majesty today this is my second time on her in a month... I like this ship... the service is great the people are nice... it is only a 3 or 4 day cruise... they plan things accordingly... lots of things to do... but if you are expecting things that are on a newer and bigger then you need to look at Oasis or one of those...I love Oasis as an added note...I am going back on Majesty in 24 Days... canβt wait... it is the best little get away ship...
I am sorry you were disappointed. If you want the βextrasβ for a special occasion while on your cruise. You will need to purchase one of their packages, such as a Honeymoon package, if the cruise line offers it. For our Anniversary we bought a Anniversary package on NCL Sky prior to sailing. Because of the purchased package when we arrived in our room, the room was decorated among other items included. But I hope if you decide to cruise again, that you will have a better time. Take care
I agree with previous comment, research is your friend. There is a ton of YouTube videos of ship tours, stateroom tours. Blogs as well with old daily compass so you get an idea of the activites etc. We just got off of majesty on Friday and was exactly as we expected from our research and we found it to be a great ship for a quick 4 day getaway. I wouldn't have recommended it as your first ship but for those of us who have been on big and small ships and know what to expect that is different. Not sure when you sailed but we didn't have any issues with entertainment etc. Don't let this turn you off from cruising though, look for a newer ship and research and give it another try. We love cruising and love what we get for the money we oay, will be taking our 7th in 4 months. :-) I am sorry about your experience and hopefully you'll give it another go.
I cannot stress enough how much research is important. Many of the issues pointed out here are things that you can easily find information about prior to booking. The Cruise Compass for daily activities is in your room everyday so you can plan out your day, no need to be at the pool bar to find out what activities are going on. There are several websites, blogs, etc where you can go to ask questions and get a better idea of what you are walking into. There are several knowledgeable people on this app alone who can give you a treasure trove of fantastic info. I don't feel as though I'm still a beginner at cruising, I've learned alot as I have moved along but there are certain people who post here that I read their reviews and tips so that I am better informed. Sounds like the newer and bigger ships may suit your needs and expectations better. When you think you've done enough research, do a little bit more! It will help you have a much better time. I'm glad to see you enjoyed a few things but I am really sorry you had a bad time. I hope your next one is better! Ps. I learned on my first cruise that Bingo is a total RIP off. As much as I enjoy playing, I will never do it on a ship again. You will have better luck at slots or tables in the casino!! Happy Be-lated Anniversary :)
Who told you that you'd get gifts? Generally the cruiselines don't send gifts for special occasions. Some people may get something small but it's usually arranged by the room steward. Also there is a huge variation among ships so if you ever cruise again research the ship before booking.
