Review summary

This was incredibly disappointing!

First…

The entire reason we chose to take this cruise was because of the Cococay island. We did not get to go.  While on the ship, we overheard cruise staff saying the island was damaged from the hurricane and they haven't been there since.  Other passengers were upset too. We got up that morning prepared for our tour which we purchased extra, only to have the capt. Say it was too rough to tender. The ship was smooth.  We tendered in Cabo for 2 days in rough weather.  So this was really ridiculous.

As a comparison, there was no ice in the room, no towel animals, the stateroom stunk like sewer back up; and the food was really bad. The first night in the restaurant, I had the pork.  No one told me there were bones in it and you could not see them.  They were very sharp!  I bit into a small bone that cut the roof of my mouth and nearly broke my tooth. I was embarrassed but spit it out on my plate and then refused to eat anymore of my dinner. I ended up going to Johnny Rockets and paid the surcharge. Surcharge for a hamburger!  Plus, the waiters in the restaurant had really really dirty clothes.  They looked like they had not been washed in a week!

We paid extra for the deluxe beverage package. There were only 2 machines on the ship and they only took the big tumblers.  So if you wanted a soda, you had to go to the bar and they didn’t like you ordering a soda at the bar.  Also, at the bar, the bartenders had you sign for every drink with a push for additional tip. If you did not provide an additional tip on the slip, they wadded it up and threw it away.  Plus they also were not happy with you. I prepaid those tips!

I will say, the comedy shows on the first night and the last night was really funny.  I will give them that.

I am not a complainer and that is why I did not respond to the first request to review this cruise.  But I have been on numerous cruises and several different cruise lines.  This was my first on Royal Caribbean and I will not go again!

Please tell me why I spent 91,000 airline miles for this?!

Service and Staff

Bar staff was pushy for additional tips. They were rude and I would stand in line while they helped the young pretty girls first that walked up after.

Ship Quality

Ship was a little outdated, but not bad.

Cabin / Stateroom

It was small, but fine. Slightly outdated. We didn't get animal towels except for the last night. There is no ice in the room and no refrigerator. It smelled like sewer most of the time in our hall and bathroom.

Ship tip

Try to eat off the ship. The food was bad!

Cococay (Cruise Line's Private Island)

Actually going to the island would be nice. Another lady had taken the same cruise 4 times and didn't every once get to the island.
