Review summary

It was a brilliant cruise, I enjoyed visiting some places I love coming back to and finding out about new places. As well as going off exploring, it was so nice to be able to have some much needed rest and relaxation time with games, jigsaws, dancing classes, sitting reading or chatting and a massage. It was lovely to meet people and make new friends and experience other things such as watching beautiful sunsets, starry night skies and the seals who swam about in the harbours as we left the Scottish coasts. The whole cruise was brilliant, the food delicious, the ship clean, comfortable and all the staff friendly and welcoming.

Embarkation

I was actually a bit early so I had to wait a bit, but the Liverpool staff were very helpful and explained what was happening. It wasn’t very long before I could go in to the terminal building then it was very quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food delicious, I generally ate in the bistro for breakfast and lunch. Sometimes I had a bit too much! By the second week I was having to skip my salad course at the dinner as an appetiser, main and pudding was enough. The waiters were very friendly and helpful. One evening I went to the Indian Fusion which was an extra so it cost £14.90 but I very much enjoyed it, though the main was a little bit too generous a serving for me.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
I took part in some games and quizzes, spent time in the games room doing jigsaws. A few people went there regularly, so it was easy to make friends. I also enjoyed doing the dance lessons. Sometimes there was too much choice and it was hard to decide what to do, but it was also nice when there was a break and I had some free time as I don’t often get that at home!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I enjoyed listening to music, especially the Glen Miller/Big band era show on the last night. I also enjoyed listening to the piano and violin in the smaller bar.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Excellent, everyone without exception was friendly and hard working but always happy to chat. That was very welcoming to me as a solo traveller. I felt like I was valued by the staff not just as a customer but as a friend.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Beautifully clean and always being kept clean and tidy, there were cleaners constantly wiping down stair rails, doors etc, things people touched and hand sanitizers everywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It was beautiful, perfect for me, plenty of room and ample space for my things.

Ship tip

Go for it, you’ll be made very welcome

Ports of call

Dublin, Ireland

5 out of 5
I always like to visit Dublin, I knew the city well so I was mainly going to the shops to by presents, but it is always nice to walk through it. There is lots to see, the castle, college, museums, etc

Bristol Avonmouth

5 out of 5
This was new for me, but it looks like a lovely city and the few hours I spent there were a good little taster, so I hope to come back. There was a museum that looked amazing that I didn’t have time for and a fun quirky little market.

Honfleur, France

5 out of 5
Beautiful, I love Honfleur and it was so good to come back. I just ended up walking all round, finding little places and going to have a look at them, ended up seeing two museums and churches and a park. There are also lots of gift shops and places to eat. I had a crepe in one of the restaurants. (I’m not sure which though, they all have seats outside next to each other).

Invergordon (Inverness & Loch Ness), Scotland

5 out of 5
I went on a trip to Rogie Falls, it was beautiful, the scenery was stunning and our guide excellent. I even saw some salmon leap out the water.

Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, Scotland

I met up with an old school friend who took me all over to see the standing stones and Churchill barriers and the Italian chapel. Then later I went on a walking tour and saw the cathedral and the castles. They are well worth a visit.

Tobermory, Isle Of Mull, Scotland

5 out of 5
Again, I had a walking tour with an excellent guide, who was also very caring as a lot of this involved going up steep hills. Then I went into town and had a look round. I even found a little beach and had a quick paddle!

Belfast, Northern Ireland

5 out of 5
I visited the Titanic experience which was great and then had a good walk all over town. I didn’t get to see everything, but would love to come back and see more of it.

Good, just didn’t want to go home
