Review summary

Skip this boat if you like Royal Caribbean. If you’re impartial, go with another cruise line.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
We had an emergency travel situation, and the only time we’ve ever needed it, we didn’t purchase insurance. So instead of boarding in NJ, we flew to Bermuda, stayed the night and boarded after it ported in Bermuda. The process was supposed to be smooth, but it felt like no one had ever had a situation like this before. What should have taken 30 minutes, took 2 hours.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
A few breakfast items were very good, but most of the food was just OK. We only ate the buffet for breakfast and lunch, and the main dining for dinner, but nothing we ate felt outstanding.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pools were closed half the time due to rain/wind. The inside of the boat was way overcrowded due to everyone being inside, limiting anything to do.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Ice show was very good.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
They did very little with our 5 yo. They ran around in a big room and did a lot of coloring. The only reason our little one wanted to go is because she’s very social and made friends.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Everyone seemed like they were just doing a job. We’ve received a much different level of service from Carnival that felt more like Disney where everyone had passion and excitement for their jobs.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
Everything was dated and worn. At times the design and flow of the ship was confusing and often required you to go from floor to floor to get across the ship

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
It was ok. Not very comfortable, and it was a little worn down.

Ports of call

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

3 out of 5

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

4 out of 5

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Communication was bad, and it wasn’t clear at all where you needed to go, ultimately resulting in a line that wrapped through the ship

I've cruised on Liberty of the Seas and had a great time. Cruising is what you make it to be. If all you are going to do is look for the bad, then that's all you are going to see. Perhaps on your next cruise, just sit down, relax and have a great time, cause of all my cruises, I have never had the perfect cruise, cause if that's what you want, you will never have it. Things go wrong, and when you have 4000 people all together for 7 days, something will go wrong, that's life, but we don't dwell on the bad.

Well I'm not going to skip this boat because it's a ship and I'm taking this ship on Thursday August 24th. Everyone's experience is different I've cruise with royal and I shall see for myself and I've cruised with Carnival once, Norwegian many times princess once, Holland America once and Royal three times

Thanks for sharing your cruise experience. Sorry that there was little that you enjoyed on your cruise. Read other reviews of the same sailing and they had different experiences than yours. We sailed in July to Bermuda and had a very different experience than yours. Hope that your next cruise vacation is more to your expectations.
