Review summary

We really enjoyed our cruise. The ship was awesome and had something for everyone. Canada was great. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed getting to know them. Can't wait for the next one.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We showed up at our assigned time and were able to park and board the ship quicker than I expected. It went very smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The main dining room was great. Our wait staff was friendly and fun. The Windjammer was just too crowded every time we went. There was no place to sit so we ended up taking plates back and eating in our room. The only specialty we did was Johnny Rockets. My son loved it and they were very generous with their portions.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We enjoyed a few shows, including the ice skating and production shows. The kids loved the pills and hot tubs. My youngest had a great time at the kids camp place.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The entertainment was great. The final show was amazing. We also enjoyed the ice skaters and comedian.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
We gave my son the option of going or staying with us and he chose kids club almost every time. My only complaint was that it was closed during our early dining time, so we had to bring the young ones to fancy dinner.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They were great, don't get me wrong, but I found the staff on Carnival to be friendlier and more helpful.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This was the biggest ship I've been on to date. I found it to be beautiful and well maintained. The layout was a bit odd, having to go through the casino a lot to get from one end to the other around the theater. And the Promenade got way too crowded. But it was an impressive ship overall.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
We got upgraded to this cabin and it's beautiful! The space is great and views were awesome. However, due to heavy fog, they sounded the horn every few minutes even in the wee hours of morning and middle of the night. This room is extremely close to the top deck where the horn is and it will sound like it's in the room with you. I wanted to cry.

Ship tip

Splurge for the balcony. My parents had one and it was so nice to get a bit of privacy but be outside. We saw dolphins.

Ports of call

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Beautiful city. Plenty to do within walking distance of the ship. We did the Georges Island shore excursion and enjoyed it.

Cape Liberty (Bayonne), New Jersey

Driving here was a nightmare.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Not nearly as smooth as getting on. We chose to carry our own luggage off, but weren't given a very clear time of when we could leave. Then when we did get the ok, there was no possible way to get an elevator and the stairs were nearly impassable too. They herded us like cattle into the theater waiting room, even though we were trying to leave, not wait. Staff was not very helpful.
