Review summary

Should have learned from past experience. Never again out of Galveston, port, texas taxes & liquor regulations and all the locals are too much. Filthy city with poor hotels near the port. Loyal to Royal, but not out of Galveston. 1400 kids and teenagers with no parental skills to be found was amusing and frustrating all at the same time.

Still not back from the hurricane and prices are always double when a ship comes in.

Cruising in the Summer will usually load the cruise ships with children. More and more are not supervised. We’ve noticed that a home port frequently has more passengers from that state/area. My frustration with Galveston is the cost and time it takes to get there from the Houston airport.

Just got back from Texas myself and yes, it's quite the culture shock.l However I found Texans to be very friendly and I very much enjoyed and appreciated that Texan hospitality and manners. The heat? Not so much. I made a mental note to not use Gavalson port during summer.

I don’t know what part of Galveston you stayed in, but we stayed at a couple of very nice hotels in Galveston and had a great time.
