Review summary

This was our 14th cruise and 4th with RCCL. The staff work hard to give guests a great experience. The ship is older and needs some upgrades but that didn't keep us for having a good time. We will definitely cruise with RCCL again in the future.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We rode the RCCL bus from Houston to Galveston. This allows us to skip the long line in the terminal. We were on the ship within 30 minutes. There is alot of walking involved in the process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the Windjammer buffet and the main dining room were very good all week. Our server team in the main dining room was average at best. We also tried room service and the food cans got and in a reasonable amount of time.

Johnny Rockets

4 out of 5

We always eat at least once at Johnny Rockets. Our server was very friendly but I think communication was an issue. I ordered a chili dog but I received a hot dog with relish, ketchup, and mustard. It was very tasty. The apple pie and ice cream for dessert was very good.

Sorrento's Pizza

5 out of 5

Sorrentos Pizza was wonderful. They were open until 3:00 am every night. Late night pizza became our snack of choice and it is complimentary. Get it by the slice or a a whole pie!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The Solarium adult pool was relaxing and surprisingly deep. It is too bad it wasn't larger to accommodate more guests. We didn't use the fitness center or facilities on the sport deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We attended the ice show in Studio B. The skaters were very skilled and did a wonderful job on a small ice rink.

Studio B

5 out of 5

Studio B is a great place to watch the ice show. You feel like you are right next to the ice and are a part of the show. You might need a lite jacket.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room steward was very attentive to our needs especially toward the end of the cruise when we became ill from COVID and had to quarantine in our stateroom. Our main dining room team was average. We had to ask for drink refills on multiple occasions. Any staff we came in contact with were very polite and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the ship made it easy to find different places. I did observe staff cleaning and sanitizing railings and other high-touch areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This cabin is handicap-accessible. There is ample room to maneuver a wheel chair. There is a ramp into the restroom. It is a nice space that I would use Cruise after cruise.

Ship tip

Use the app to plan your day so you don't miss anything but leave time to just relax. Use RCCL transportation to avoid the long checkin lines at the terminal.

Ports of call

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We did the Maya Key private island excursion. You ride a water taxi from the cruise ship pier to the island. They have a mostly shaded beach with lounge chairs. You can also snorkel or dive to look at the coral that is just off shore. A buffet lunch was included in the price. I would definitely do this excursion again. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a large amount of walking from the cruise ship down the pier to where you pick up the water taxi and the island is pretty hilly. The walking paths were cement or stone.

Disembarkation

We chose to take our own luggage off the ship so we could leave early. We were told to meet in the deck 4 dining room @ 6:30 am but we weren't cleared by CBP until nearly 8:00 am. Once we were off the ship, we arrived at our transportation outside within about 10-15 minutes.
