Review summary

We had an amazing time! Royal has so much to do on their ships and such great customer service. We're definitely going to cruise with them again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
They guided my husband and I right through. We had a boarding time of 11:30. We showed up early. Had issues with our parking which had nothing to do with Royal. Once we got to the port, it was honestly super quick and easy. The porters took our luggage, there were people telling us exactly where to go, we got right up to the counter, got our seapass cards and moved right on to the ship.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food on the ship was great. The food in the main dining room was phenomenal and so was the service. The buffet was typical buffet food and was always super crowded. But, it always had something for everyone so we did like that it was a good alternative option. The two specialty restaurants we went to (Sabor and Johnny Rockets) were amazing!

Johnny Rockets

5 out of 5

We ate at Johnny Rockets twice on our cruise. The food was sooooo good. The best apple pie anywhere!!

Sabor

5 out of 5

This restaurant is amazing! The food was fabulous! Everything is fresh and tastes awesome! And at the end they surprise you with a tray of all thr desserts for you to share.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There is so much to do on the ship you can't possibly run out of things to do. There's the rock climbing wall, the flow rider, the water slides, basketball, an arcade, putt putt, a casino and so much more!

Squeeze

5 out of 5

This was one of our favorite bars to sit at. It has an amazing view!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The ice show and Saturday Night Fever were both absolutely amazing shows!! Definite must see shows!

Library & Card Room

1 out of 5

We went to the card room to see about playing a game but there was really nothing in there to play. Not an exciting venue. It's just a room with empty tables. Great if you brought your own games with you to play.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was our first time on Royal. We've cruised 3 times previously with Disney and always thought that no cruise line could ever compare to the level of customer service we received with Disney but that's not true. I'd have to say that honestly I believe Royal surpassed Disney in customer service. Every restaurant, every bar, every single Royal employee we interacted with was so wonderful and helpful. Excellent customer service!!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I've previously always cruised with Disney who does things to perfection. I will say that on Royal, they do clean the rooms just as well as on Disney cruise lines but the difference is that every time a Disney ship stops in a port they immediately begin scrubbing the entire ship down on the outside. This completely maintains the ship and this is where you do see the differences. You could see the aging of the Royal ship whereas you don't see it with Disney ships. But, other than that Royal ships are very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was great, although it was very noisy. There was a service room right next door so there was banging at all hours. Plus we've discovered that although it's fun to have a window that overlooks the promenade, we're early birds and the promenade is always partying late at night so this was not a room for us in the future.

Ship tip

Don't miss the ice show or Saturday Night Fever and definitely get the deluxe drinking package. It's worth it!!

Disembarkation

This was very disorganized. They kept calling over their radios trying to figure out where they wanted to put everyone and arguing with each other over it. You'd think by now they'd have this down. But.... all in all, even though they were so scattered, the process didn't take long. We were part of the self assist group that carries our own luggage off first thing and we were in our car by 8:30 am so we can't really complain too much.
