Review summary

Decent cruise for the most part. Did enjoy the nice variety of people and age ranges. Wasn’t sure what to expect but I’m glad that I went. In summary, I would consider taking another cruise after this one, will be looking at some other lines though. I wouldn’t take another cruise on the Liberty.

Embarkation

Shockingly fast an efficient, couldn’t believe how fast we were on our boat!! No complaints there!!! Had a little bit of a wait to get into our room but overall, very smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Mixed here. We spent our time eating between the Windjammer and the Main Dining spot selected for My Time Dining. The food at the Windjammer was hit or miss, salty or bland, depending on the item. The dining room items were pretty good, not always the tastiest items, nor were they always hot, but you never left hungry. I will say my biggest complaint about the Windjammer when I did eat there was the cleanliness of the dishes, given the emphasis on health and sanitation. The Staff members were always on hand to help and very friendly.

Onboard Activities

I found I wasn’t able to spend a lot of time in the Pool area due to Cigarette smoke and my allergies. Yes, it’s only allowed in certain areas but, it was quite heavy, so the areas were generally off limits to me. I did check out and enjoy the Fitness Center, and did my own tour of the ship.

Service and Staff

Mixed bag here... We had an issue with a member of Maintenance (not Housekeeping) trying to force his way into our room while we’re were undressed! Reporting this and trying to get it addressed seemed to create a bigger issue! People didn’t seem concern about our Privacy or Security issues!! We speculated that maybe the Maintenance person didn’t speak/understand English even when we told him we weren’t dressed but then, shouldn’t that be a prerequisite? Guest Services Staff was nice BUT you could see their irritation with the guests, not cool. Dining room staff great!

Ship Quality

I was surprised by the appearance in some areas. I knew Liberty was an older ship, but she definitely shows her age in some areas! Again, my first cruise so I expected more I guess, but the rugs were stained and old, chips cabinets, worn areas, just old. My main reason for the low marks are because of the cat-wizz smell in my bathroom. That smell never went away!!! I don’t think there was anything Housekeeping could have done to remove it, the bathroom toilet just wreaked of urine!!!

Cabin / Stateroom

Ok, decent for the stay, balcony view was best part. Decent amount of space, bathroom has very unpleasant odor.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Falmouth, Jamaica

My favorite stop on the trip!! Friendly people, laid back, lots of shops of course and coffee!!! Would visit again!

Galveston, Texas

It was okay. Traveled there on our own, lots going on, no excursion planned. Just ok, not a place I’d plan a visit to if I weren’t cruising.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Busy port, did our own thing, lots to do and see.

Disembarkation

Slow, slow, slow, the complete opposite of Embarkation. Very stressful and disorganized despite their efforts to make it otherwise.
