Sorry that you encountered this problem. The thing I enjoy about cruising is putting the phone in the safe and disconnecting for an entire week. When you get back you'll realize that you didn't miss much and none of it matters because it is in the past and there is nothing you can do to change it.

WiFi seems to be hit or miss on most ships. A cruise is a good time to unplug and disconnect.
