Review summary

Great cruise, it may convert me from Carnival to Royal Caribbean. I missed Guys Burgers and the Blue Iguana.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Pretty quick on about 1:00. Would have been faster if I had remembered to print all the Sign and Sail info.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Pretty standard food. It was all good but nothing amazing. It would be nice to have more free drinks available rather than having to go to the Windjammer all the time.

Main Dining Room

4 out of 5

Pretty standard dining room fare. The service was outstanding. Our waiter brought us some off menu items that were great such as jerk chicken.

Café Promenade

4 out of 5

Quick snacks on the promenade. Some sandwiches and deserts.

Windjammer Marketplace

4 out of 5

Standard buffet. The standout was the Indian food for a change of pace.

Sorrento's Pizza

4 out of 5

Good pizza and close to our room. Would rather it be on the upper deck as opposed to the promenade.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Great time on board!

Flowrider

4 out of 5

Great staff and great time. Wish the separated into two lanes more when doing boogie boarding so more could participate. The lines get long.

Rock Climbing Wall

4 out of 5

Great staff and nice setup.

Liberty Dunes

3 out of 5

Better than some but needs some maintenance.

Center Ice Rink

3 out of 5

Ok show. Novelty of skating on the small onboard rink.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Pretty good shows. Saturday Night Fever had a great set. The aerialist in the last show (In the Air) were amazing. Should have had more of them.

Promenade

4 out of 5

First experience with the promenade setup. Mall like but pretty cool. Another people watching venue.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Great staff! No issues with anyone. The room steward and main dining room staff were amazing. The sports staff were helpful and lots of fun.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Good layout, well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Standard inner cabin. We liked the location, center forward with dedicated hall. Easy access up to 11 or down to 5 for all the happenings.

Ship tip

Magnetic hooks are the bomb. Must have for your room. We used 4 but will take more next time. They work in the shower too for hanging swim wear.

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Jamaica is beautiful but a little sketchy. The people are nice but very poor so everyone is angling for a buck. The Royal Caribbean port is very nice! Our Dunn Falls & River Tubing excursion through RC was ok. The guide and driver were great. The tubing was great. The lunch was ok, not really worth it. Dunn River was a let down. The site guide there rushed us through with little time to enjoy the Falls. I think the faster he goes the more groups and tips he gets.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Cayman is ok. Expensive. Nice West Bay dive with Turtle Divers. Great dive boat, ok crew. Pretty easy meet. More drive time than boat time. Never rode in such a nice boat such a short distance.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Once off the boat customs was the shortest we have experienced. Faster off than on who’s is unusual.

Will be our first time on RC, I do love Guys and Blue Iguana myself. Carnival's overall service is dropping, so I'm trying something else. Wish princess would come back to Texas!
