Liberty of the Seas

7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip)

Review summary

Weather was nice once we left Galveston. The ship is beautiful but could use some maintenance. There was at least one prominent elevator that was out of service the entire cruise. Judging by number of waitstaff, etc., I would estimate that Royal Caribbean has instituted some serious cost cutting attempts; although I will say the entertainment was top-notch.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Port of Galveston is not well organized for incoming and leaving passengers.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Promenade area becomes very crowded and actually dangerous during entertainment events in that area. My wife was actually knocked to the floor and injured due to excessive celebration.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Promenade stateroom is a poor value for the price paid. To look out of the window, you have to kneel on the sofa. The layout of the beds in this room makes it very difficult to maneuver around the room for 2 people. Faucet was broken in the bathroom sink and would only produce warm to hot water--no cold water.

Ship tip

This is probably a great ship if you sail during the off-season when occupancy may be less than 100% and/or there are less children running around unsupervised by their parents.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

George Town, Grand Cayman

Did the snorkeling and Stingray City. The people running this tour were rude and uncaring. No beverages or food were included in this tour. No value for the high price paid. I will probably just stay on the ship next time.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Had a great excursion on the Red Locks party catamaran. The clean, safe atmosphere in Falmouth totally changed my opinion about Jamaica that I had from previous visits.

I would agree 100 percent. The elevators should all work. We loved the entertainment too.
