Overall a good trip, but port issues and ship flaws made it not a good value.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Very efficient and quick once in port. Parking was chaotic and inefficient.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Food quality on RCL has really declined over the years and this was the first cruise where I didn’t enjoy the drinks as much. It’s still a good time, but the culinary experience, once the highlight of the trip, is now lackluster.
Windjammer Marketplace
4 out of 5
Needs more rotating variety but still a convenient and quick meal.
Sorrento's Pizza
5 out of 5
Love the new pizza!
Main Dining Room
4 out of 5
Beautiful MDR, good service. Food quality down but still good. Impossible to reschedule dining times on this ship.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The new additions are awesome! We had a blast on the slides and tidal wave. Entertainment was lacking, with no real performances.
Photo Gallery and Shop
2 out of 5
I greatly dislike the new way of delivering photos by email. That’s placing a lot of trust. I want to leave with my pics. Photographers on this ship seemed bored with their job.
Jogging Track
2 out of 5
Nearly useless since there are chairs on the track and it stays wet, being on top deck. I prefer the covered dedicated tracks.
Day Spa and Fitness Center
3 out of 5
Fitness center and sauna hours are not convenient. Facilities pretty nice.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Karaoke was fun and seemingly the main attraction on Liberty. The Quest, as always, didn’t disappoint. I hope they never get rid of that! No plays on this sailing, for some reason.
Library & Card Room
1 out of 5
This is a joke. We used to love the library. Now it’s a hallway with 4 chairs and maybe 15-20 books. No games but they did add a separate game/card room elsewhere.
Children's Programs
3 out of 5
The kids had less interest in the kids club this time, saying some of the staff were rude. The hours are also pretty inconvenient. It should be available all day, not sporadically.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Overall, service was pretty good. Wait staff were excellent. Our room steward was just okay and was pretty snippy when we had to call him once, then griped at me the next day about it. This was the first time I didn’t overtip.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Overall, she’s a beautiful ship but is showing her age. She creaks A LOT in rough water and by the end of the trip we had fans in the hallways due to wet carpets. Staff did the best job they could with an old ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It is what it is. Balcony is small and had algae growing on the flooring. We normally book suites and spend a lot of time in the room, but this room we only used for sleep and changing. The shower leaked horribly, a common problem I heard from other guests. This is a design flaw in the shower and I assume why the carpets were wet.
Ship tip
Show up early for tendering. It’s the most chaotic and disorganized experience I’ve ever seen. We missed our ship excursion due to this and were ontime for everything we had control over
I hate this port. It is so disorganized and chaotic. Needs a major overhaul in traffic flow to handle megaships. Tip: Texas charges taxes on EVERYTHING. Duty-free does NOT apply in Texas.
