Review summary

Would not go on the Liberty of the Seas again. Too many children crying and walking under your feet. Too much smoke. Too much selling going on. Was not very relaxing.

Embarkation

Hectic because of the fog. Had to line up in the casino that was very smoky.

Service and Staff

Room stewards very accompandating.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Messy with all the food trays sitting in the hallways. Could be dangerous. Did not like to have to walk through the smoke filled casino. Was surprised smoking was allowed around the children pool area. Could not walk completely around the deck because of the smoke.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Foam mattress pad needed to be replaced. Was old, falling apart and did not look clean. Good place for bed bugs. Drapes liner was very dirty. Had spots that looked like dried blood. Television reception was very poor. Had to pay for movies. Last ship we were on, movies were free.

Ship tip

Good for families.

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

No excursion. Walked the downtown area.

George Town, Grand Cayman

3 out of 5
Would had liked more time in George Town. Went to the turtle farm and Hell. Was expensive for what you got. Bus driver was very informative. Bus was not in the best condition or comfortable.

Falmouth, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Tour Falmouth area and went to the beach. Bus was awful. Thought it was going to stop running. Sounded like the transmission was going out. Very uncomfortable. Was quoted one price on the bus for our meals at the beach $17/each. Was a lot higher. Total was $54. This included two beers. One stop was not even open. A church. A shopping stop was all junk.

Disembarkation

Messy due to fog. Had to line up in the smoky casino. Was not happy.

I kind of wonder if you were on the same ship as all these other people that done reviews. Sometimes you have to look at some positives too. But hate you had a bad cruise.

I've done a number of cruises and might sit in the casino for 30 minutes a day...my clothes are never smoke smelling. The ventilation systems on these ships are better than Vegas!

True, the smoke in the casinos is bad on all the ships. We just don't go through the casino if we don't have to.

RCCL is a family line. If you don't want a bunch if kids, you need to pick a time of year when kids are most likely in school. Line can't control the weather. The smoke in the casino can be bad, but it's not that far to walk thru. Relax, enjoy your vacation

I absolutely LOVE Liberty! A great ship, sounds like you had a bad experience with the trip and not the ship itself. Trays in the hallway is a frequent occurrence unfortunately.

I don't think it was the ship. It was the trip! You're going to see a lot of what you had on just about every 7 day Caribbean cruise with any cruise line. We did a 14 night Transatlantic sailing out of Barcelona on Liberty of the Seas back in 2011. Very relaxing and totally laid back. Hardly any kids on board. Ship was awesome, plenty of activities on the eight at sea days if you wanted them. No rushing around, even the Mediterranean ports were really laid back. If you're looking for a slower paced cruise vacation it's not going to happen on a 7 day Caribbean. On the other hand if you're looking to be into something all the time and you like to party when you're on the ship and kick back on a beach, that's when you can't beat a Caribbean cruise. I'm sure many other folks can relay their experiences here. All in all a cruise vacation is a Big Bang for the buck when you look at what's included. The extras and the kind of fun you have is up to you!

Do you have any past cruises to compare this to?

All that you explained are typical of any cruise line.
