What ship are you sailing on & the date? Did they use a Travel agent or booked on their own?

Family of 4 in an interior room will definitely be tight. If you can afford it try to get prices on at least a Jr suite or a balcony cabin

Find out first who the family member booked the cruise through, get the booking number and call. I think an interior with 4 sounds really tight, esp for 9 nights. You could try an upgrade and pay the difference, but it might be cheaper to get 2 adjoining (connecting) interior rooms. That’s how we typically roll, much more affordable than suites and plenty of space. Plus, 2 bathrooms.

We have done an interior with a family of 4, it is tight but we barely spent anytime in the room. That being said, if you call Royal they will be able to help you and get an ocean view. Next time our family will definitely go for the ocean view or balcony

You will need to first find out how the family member made the booking. If done in anyway other than direct w/ one of Royal's options, then that company would be the only ones that can tell you. If done direct you can try a mock booking at Royal's website, but be sure to check the T&Cs of the current promo and the original as some have adm. fees to make changes even upgrades.

We are on 9 night on Liberty of the Seas right now. We have a balcony with 2 of our grandchildren and it was just over 5,000 total.
