Legend of the Seas

10 Night Far East (Hong Kong To Singapore)

Sail date: August 16, 2015

Ship: Legend of the Seas

Cabin type: Oceanview

Cabin number: 3040

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

The ship is old and needs refurbishment (a thorough cleaning won't suffice). Staff is attentive and friendly, which helped to make up for what the ship lacked. Musical group was comparable to most junior high school performers.  Food was decent and tasty, and the menu was sufficiently varied although it would have been nice if the local port dishes had been featured for a fuller experience of the culture. The captain was friendly and approachable, and two bar servers (Maria and Laila) made every encounter with them an entertainment opportunity.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was delicious and the menu varied

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Only one or two events per evening. Some venues left empty with nothing going on....why not fill every theater and bar area with entertainment?

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Adequate if you've never been outside a small town and like high school presentations.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Three individuals stood out for their amazing customer service: Sun, Maria, & Laila

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Dirty and old; stained beyond anything a thorough cleaning can fix; Chair stains, carpet stains, broken furniture, rusted metal joints and stairs; dated decor.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was adequate. Room attendant was good.

Ports of call

Hong Kong

5 out of 5
We have been to HK several times previously. We arrived three days early to enjoy the city. We did not use any of RCCL's services at this location. We like Hong Kong - a beautiful, vibrant city.

Keelung (Taipei), Taiwan

Hurried. Went to museum first and used up too much time. Lunch was delicious and used up too much time. Afternoon stops were 10-15 minutes each and not sufficient to see the venues. City seemed clean, but we were disappointed not to experience more.

Manila, Philippines

3 out of 5
Very nice tour guide who tried hard to accommodate the rude people on our tour. We were so delayed by their constant inconsideration and tardiness that we did not see all of Intamuros or even go to our final destination

Boracay, Philippines Did not visit port

Typhoon Goni prevented us from visiting this port and no alternate port was substituted.

Puerto Princesa, Philippines

Horrible tour guide. Wasted hours doing absolutely nothing. Visited one island for snorkeling and then another for lunch (no activities) skipped the third island and returned to ship. Really, really bad tour company.

Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

3 out of 5
Four hour sightseeing trip that took us to two places and then several spots for photos. City itself had much more to offer and we were disappointed not to experience more. I'd advise others to take a full day trip so as to see more of the area.

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

5 out of 5
We did a "half-day city tour and nature cruise" that lasted nearly six hours. We covered everything on the advertised tour listing except lunch! Clean country and friendly people.

Singapore

We love Singapore. Great city with so much to do. We stayed three days; did not use RCCL services. Excellent adventure
