Review summary

This is a very nice cruise, perfect for someone who is cruising for the first time as my friend was. We really loved the special dining room that Club Orange has on this ship. Food was very good, we had the drink package (and used it) and the staff was great.

We were cruising to relax and it was still during the pandemic, wearing masks, etc., so we were pretty much staying away from crowds.

Room was nice, we like being up higher. First time in a Signature Suite, so am now spoiled for future cruises. Great stewards.

Ship tip

Club Orange was totally worth it!

We boarded here but also arrived a little early to explore on our own.

Our guide was nice, we did a tour that visited a bodega for wine tasting and the old casino for history and margaritas. Those two visits were fun. Afterwards we were given time to wander the shopping area, which was a bit boring.

San Francisco, California

Loved SF! The one thing I would change is the excursion through the city and Alcatraz and do it on my own next time because by the time we got to Alcatraz, we had so very little time to catch the ferry back to make the late afternoon sailing time, which was about 4:00. It would have been perfect if the ship had two more hours before sailing.

Catalina Island, California

Lovely place, small but little to do. There were some excursions offered initially, but HA changed the itinerary and they were not available for our date. We wandered about the main shopping area and sat for a bit before catching the tender back to the ship.

Santa Barbara, California

SB is a wonderful city. We did the tour to the mission. Tour was wonderful. The transportation to the mission was not as it was a trolley with hard wooden seats. For normal people this isn't an issue but I was traveling with someone with back issues and every little bump was painful. This was not in the description, as I pointed it out when I went down to talk to the staff about it. Because of that we returned to the ship instead of doing more exploring.

Easy. We did the tour that explored parts of the touristy areas (Balboa Park, Old Town) that ended up taking people to the airport.
