Overall, I was disappointed with cruise. The cancellation of Bahrain and Qatar was a real bummer. The fact that the price I paid later dropped by $1,100 and RC wouldn’t give me the difference or at least some back in the form of an OBC was maddening. The crew was awesome as were the shows. I just had a much better experience on Harmony if The Seas in every aspect. I think I’m spoiled with the Oasis class ships. No more smaller ships for me. Despite all the gripes and things that occurred, I’m still a gonna be a faithful RC cruiser.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
I paid for “The Key” which includes priority embarkation, yet I was made to stand on the general line which was insanely long.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
“The Key” lunch, I ordered a burger medium rare and it was beyond well done. The buffet food was just ok. The steak I had in the main dining room was not good at all. The food on the island of Sir Bani Yas gave me food poisoning. The “Key” disembarkation breakfast was not good. I would’ve been better off going to the buffet.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The pool in the solarium and the fitness center was great.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
It’s a small theatre compared to oasis class ships, but all the performances were excellent.
Children's Programs
No kids with me.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was phenomenal from my room steward to the waiters, everyone was just great.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ships layout is fine and all the common areas were impeccably maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Comfort was ok. The bed was much firmer than I would’ve liked. There are no outlets bedside and that is a huge bummer. The size of the room was very good and the walk-in closet was awesome. The terrace was the best of had yet. It was quite big length and width-wise. The view is facing the wake (back) which is my favorite view. The downside to the balcony is that if you walk to the banister, passengers in the windjammer deck right above you can look down at you. So you lose a little bit of privacy.
Con’s:
1. The windjammer is right above you. In the morning, the chairs are dragging non-stop.
2. The cabinet door to the fridge was broken off when first entered the room. It was fixed, but came unhinged again.
3. The sliding door to the balcony was damaged and there was no way to keep it open without it constantly slamming open and closed. That could not be immediately rectified.
4. There was a weird sewage type smell that varied in strength. Maintenance did something on the outside of the room to try and alleviate it. WiFi was unreliable and slower than expected. At times it was out shipwide.
Ship tip
If you don’t like smaller ships, I wouldn’t recommend this one.
The port was awesome. I wanna move here lol. I did the Desert excursion which included riding the dunes, camel rides, dinner, hookah and entertainment. It was awesome.
The Big Buses only operate till about 6pm and the night tours are only on certain days.
Qatar wouldn’t allow us in. I have a feeling the the crew knew this all along and simply waited till the day of to say anything. I was highly looking forward to this port of call. I could’ve just taken a week vacation in Dubai being that Bahrain and Doha was cancelled.
