Review summary

The Canada-New England Itinerary was good, but our ship experience was below average. The cruise line needs to work on the food services part of this ship.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
We were in a suite and still had to wait in a long line to get to security before checking in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The condition of the restaurants were fine. We found the food a little boring. The buffet didn't do a very good job of switching things up every day. The food presentation was sloppy in the My-Time main dining room. The specialty restaurants presentation was not very exciting either.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
This was a port intensive week. So, on sea days we spent most of our time lounging in the Solarium. We did go to Bingo which was very popular on this sailing.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed two shows by the comedian and the juggler was subtly funny.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
We were in a suite for the very first time in our 20+ cruises. The steward never came to the room to introduce himself and we saw him twice during the week. The waiter we had in the My-Time dining room was rushed and obviously had no time to interact with us.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We have now been on all four of the Radiance class ships and knew what to expect. The ship was clean and maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We were in a Grand Suite which has a living room and a side bedroom area, double sinks in the bathroom and a deep tub. The balcony was very long and had a table & chairs as well as two loungers. It was approximately the size of a very nice hotel room.

Ship tip

It is one of RCCL's smaller ships, but it has lots of wonderful windows to sit at and enjoy the scenery while sipping a coffee or drink.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Because of the size of the terminal in Boston, we cleared customs on the ship. They had the line circle through the deck 5 dining room for a passport check at which time they placed a sticker on your Sea Pass card to indicate you were cleared. Then you had to exit the ship immediately after this. Luggage was easy to find and taxi's were readily available.
