Review summary

Island Princess is a very clean ship, meticulously maintained. It is extemely stable and we were very rarely even aware the ship was in motion or that engines were running. Our stateroom was on Dolphin Deck 9 but tne same is true when you are on lowest Deck 5. Everyone who provides service is extemely well trained, courteous, and friendly. It is not the biggest ship due to Panama Canal restrictions, but even on a 15 day voyage we felt we had every amenity we could want.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was far better than we had expected. We had second seating each night and we preferred the experience of getting to know our waiters and them knowing us. By the second night they knew if we ordered caesar salad\, we wanted anchovies with it. Menu was different every night except for the standards available all the time. There was always a choice we wanted. We are very particular about fish being \"per fresh\" so did not eat fish dishes. We ate in the buffet for lunch and breakfast and the quality and the variety was amazing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We are not great fans of shore excursions as a rule as they can be very uneven. If we were not in our 70's now\, we would be doing more on our own.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Mention something once to your cabin steward or waiter and it will be done daily. Every one always had a good morning\, etc. as you passed them in the corridors or dining rooms.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Island Princess is a first rate mid size cruise ship with the only drawback being lack of seating at some shows due to the presence of both fixed time dining is one dining room and elective time dining in another so that at times there were too many for one showing\,

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a mini suite. We each took two large suitcases and a carry on as we like to change each day and evening and there was plenty of room for everything. Bed was extremely comfortable. Would have preferred a hand held shower for the tub but the water pressure was great and the shower head fine. Plenty of clean towels all the time. Had originally wanted a full suite but found our mini suite was more than big enough.

Pros: the staff: waiters and assistant waiters and cabin stewards

Cons: overcrowding for shows
