Review summary

Independence is okay but we prefer the bigger ships.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Pretty easy if you follow the scheduled time for boarding and has checked in through the RCL App. We arrived about 1/2 hour early and they let us board anyway.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate dinners in Main Dining but my Mom mentioned that food tend to be cold during late seating. This was our first time booking 8 pm dinner and we will not do that again. However, we ate at Sorrento’s every day as a snack because our dinner time was so late. They have the best pizzas.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Smaller ship than what we’re used to so pretty crowded everywhere. We stayed more in our cabins than during other cruises. Daughter enjoyed the trampoline and ice skating. Ricky, the Cruise Director, was the most entertaining.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Again, we loved the cruise director Ricky. He gave quite a performance during 70s dance party at the Promenade. We loved Grease but there was no warning that some parts were not kid friendly (a lot of middle fingers, swearing, and sexual gestures). The dance show was outdated (feels like old timey cruise days).

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Most staff members were nice and courteous but some were not (which surprised me).

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
No complaints. Ship was well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5

Ship tip

We generally enjoyed CocoCay but did not this time because 2 ships were there and a lot of the excursions were booked up. We never got off for Nassau and based upon the number of people still aboard the ship, it appears not a lot of people got off the ship for Nassau.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
Easy to get to port via ride share from Orlando.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy peasy. We took our luggages and walked off the ship within 15 minutes leaving our cabin.
