Review summary

They ruined my anniversary, changed our destination and was rude when we asked for reconciliation.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
They were doing a low budget scan for fever but no one checked passports from their most recent trips.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
It was okay, not as good as my last times with Royal. Most of the staff seemed to have an attitude toward something and not that friendly.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The port was very windy, the virtual reality thing seemed to be closed each time I wanted to try it and the rock climbing seemed to be closed a lot. The only thing I was able to do was play basketball 1 time while it was very windy.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were good. The seats need to be updated but the shows themselves were good.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Most of the staff seemed to have an attitude issue and the only staff member that seemed to be friendly and did his job correctly was Ralph the bartender.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was okay but the staff and changes made it difficult to enjoy.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was nice but I'm not sure how clean it was. The 1st day there was a stain on one of the pillowcases. On the last day I moved the green sofa and found a chex mix peice. That makes me believe that the room was not cleaned well.

Ship tip

I would not suggest anyone to go to Royal Caribbean after how we were treated on our 15 year anniversary. I've cruised with Royal a lot but this was the worse vacation I've ever experienced.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

2 out of 5
The one excursion we had was cancelled after they took us to a place we didn't pay to go. Not only did they change our destination hours before the cruise but most of the things we wanted to do were cancelled.

Disembarkation

Just hated the entire experience. These was the worst staff and crew I've ever experienced.

Sorry it wasn’t up to expectations, I think there was a lot of stress on the cruise line but still should have been treating passengers great.

Sad to hear that you had such a bad experience. I hope in future you are able to have an enjoyable experience on a smaller cruise ship.

As others has said ports are not guaranteed and they are not required to consult you about changes.

Cruise lines can change itinerary if they find it necessary. Everyone knows that. I have a cruise coming up on April 11, and if it’s not cancelled due to this virus, we may be on an 8 day cruise to nowhere, as most ports have closed their ports to cruise ships. I know this is a possibility. Oh, and it’s my 50th ANNIVERSARY!

Sorry you didn't enjoy you cruise. Other people on the same cruise gave 4 or 5 stars. Just goes to show you its what make of it.

Most times I can read the reviews and tell before I click on their history that they have no cruise history so take these reviews with a grain of salt and sometimes have to view them as entertainment keep on cruising I love to cruise

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it. As others said, the ports are not guaranteed and can and do change for a variety of reasons - weather, mechanical, medical or political issues. The cruise contract everyone agrees to when booking states that itineraries and ports are not guaranteed. The only required compensation is to refund any port charges and excursions booked through the ship that were missed and already paid.

Probably everyones attitude had to be with their concerns for the wellbeing of fellow crew and passengers.

We went on Carnival cruise to Ensenada on Mar. 6 for my wife’s 50th. Had a great time especially since the boat was half full due to the CV. All the staff was excellent. We expected that the crew would be terrible due to there financial hit. Talking to a bartender he told me that most workers were paid minimum wage based on country of ship registration. Our ship was registered in the Bahamas where the minimum wage is $4.50/hr and they depend on tips. The ship adds 15% to all purchases with the option to add more if you feel inclined. My wife decided that instead of a birthday present our party of 7 would add 10% to all purchases and leave $100.00 for a little extra for our cabin steward. We asked him to share it with his coworkers. We are middle class workers and could afford to do this and my wife was happy to do it. This is why I love her so much. We figured that our tipping was the most expensive part of our trip but it was worth it

Sounds like you haven’t read the cruise contract where it clearly states they reserve the right to change the ports at their discretion with little to no notice. You are not entitled or eligible for any comp or reimbursement.
