Review summary
Our last cruise was about 10 years ago. Things have definitely changed. We really enjoyed ourselves and the Harmony was a great ship to come back to cruising with. Some things were better, some were worse but overall we’re still hooked on cruising. 🤩⚓️🛟🚢Embarkation
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
Windjammer Marketplace
Typical buffet food. ALWAYS extremely crowded. Had to walk around and around to find a table. Twice we had to grab a table that wasn’t cleaned yet and then ask someone to please clean it for us. The food was always lukewarm warm and trying to maneuver through the crowds was always frustrating. Luckily, we only needed up eating here a couple of times.
Boardwalk Dog House
I was actually surprised that this was as good as it was. I’m not a hot dog fan but they had a variety of hot dogs. The buns were better than the usual white, mushy, doughy buns that the majority of hot dogs are served with. They also have potato salad and coleslaw to go with it. Both were tasty.
Main Dining Room
We really liked the main dinning room food. We ate here every night except the two nights we ate at specialty restaurants. The food was not overly impressive but always tasty. Always warm and very plentiful. We only had to ask and we could try anything on the menu as many times as we wanted. We also ate in the main dinning for the majority of our breakfasts. It was the same menu but again, always warm, tasty, and plentiful. The only thing that I would have liked to change was the orange juice. It was very sugary. Fresh squeezed OJ was available but was $3.50/glass.
Jamie's Italian by Jamie Oliver
Do Not Eat Here! Maybe we aren’t Italian enough to eat here. The walls state that it’s authentic Italian with responsible, sustainable, and fresh ingredients. Everything we ate was terrible to us. My daughter ordered the Caesar salad that was supposed to be amazing. Apparently someone went overboard with the anchovies because it tasted REALLY fishy. It had Romain lettuce and a lot of red cabbage. The cabbage wasn’t shaved, it was chopped so you had this overwhelming cabbage taste with fish. 🤢My husband ordered the lamb chops with penne pasta with vodka sauce. The pasta was spicy. So spicy my husband couldn’t eat it. We’re from Texas. We don’t eat super spicy things but we eat spicy pretty regularly so for him to not be able to eat it, showed how spicy it was. I ordered the beef short ribs. They were good but the sauce was a little rich. It could have been toned down a little. I didn’t order any pasta but tried my daughter’s fettuccine Alfredo. It was decent. Pretty dry and once it started to cool down all the noodles stuck together. I also ordered a green salad. It was supposed to be a butter lettuce wedge with avocado and an avocado dressing. IT WAS NOT AVOCADO DRESSING. It had a very strong fennel taste to it. It was not a good combination. Our waiter was attentive but had a very thick accent and we had a really hard time understanding him. There were several incidents of misunderstanding. For dessert I had tiramisu which was drenched in some kind of alcohol. We don’t drink so I took one bite and was done. I love tiramisu when it has a strong coffee flavor so I was disappointed. If you drink, it might be the best tiramisu you’ve ever had. 😋My husband had the “warm” chocolate brownie with ice cream on top. The brownie was stone cold and hard. He said the ice cream was good though. Not sure if this was another translation misunderstanding or if the kitchen just skipped the “warm” part. Definitely skip this restaurant. Also, 75% of the menu has pork in it. There’s one chicken, one lamb, and one beef dish. Everything else is pork. If you’re not in the mood for pork in one form or another please make sure you look at the menu and like the one or two dishes that are the alternative to pork.
Chops Grille
Delicious!! The wait staff were great and the steaks were soooooo good. Definitely recommend this. It was worth the extra money.
Onboard Activities
Entertainment
Royal Theater
We watched “Grease” and “Columbus” here. Grease was disappointing. They amped up the sexual innuendos to the point that it really isn’t appropriate (in my opinion) for children less than 16 yo. The actors are definitely amateurs, but not so bad you can’t enjoy the show. It was waaayyy too long. It would have been much more enjoyable if they had taken out about 10 songs. I think the total show time is an hour and 50 min, plus the 30-45 min they suggest you arrive before the show to get a good seat. Columbus was fun. It’s more along the lines of the typical ship “Broadway Style” show. It’s a comedy and we enjoyed it. It’s also only 50 min. A much better time for a show length. It’s a bit cheesy at times but still fun. We laughed several times throughout and really enjoyed it.
Aquatheater
I didn’t understand the concept of this show but the performances were very good. It seemed to be a mishmash of different talents. Nothing really seemed to blend together. Just sit back and enjoy each talent that happens. It’s fun.
Fuel Teen Disco
My daughter was really looking forward to this place. She is an extreme extrovert and hanging out with a bunch of kids her age sounded like a dream come true. She skipped supper the first night on board to go to the mixer and meet people. She was so disappointed. The crew member in charge was not very organized. He took forever setting things up. He ended up asking the kids to help him finish setting up and started 30 min late. Apparently, the crew member in charge was not an extrovert. He did very little to try and get the kids to do ice breakers. My daughter was the only one to get up and do anything. Everyone else just sat around trying not to make eye contact with each other. They had very few teen activities. They only had about two activities per day. A lot of them were not really “activities”. They had a Fortnite tournament, teen karaoke which no one showed up for, etc. They had video games and table games in the club and that was it. So if your teen is not an extrovert, and wants to do something besides video games this place is pretty useless.
Center Ice Rink
The show was extremely bizarre. It was a Romeo and Juliette concept. I’m pretty sure whoever wrote and choreographed this show was smoking something funny. We couldn’t follow it at all. The skating was good. The performers fell several times but still did a decent job. If you miss this show don’t stress. However, it’s not a total waste of time so if you like shows, go see it.

Ship tip
It is a big ship and there are A LOT of people on board. Bring your patience with you. There’s a lot of different cultures on board as well. What’s appropriate for some is rude for others. Even though there seems like a lot of lines and lots of people things move pretty quickly. If you can’t get on one elevator, you’ll probably be able to get on the next one. If there’s a line at one of the shops, it usually only took 10 min at most to get to the end of it. While you’re waiting, strike up a conversation with someone next to you. Most cruisers are super nice and fun to talk to. The forward elevators are usually less busy than the aft elevators. If you’re getting out of a show, walk through the ship to the other end and catch an elevator there instead of trying to squish in with the 100+ people getting out of the theater at one time. Also, for the really busy decks like 5 and 6, sometimes it’s easier to walk down one or two decks and then catch the elevator going up.
