We decided cruising is not for us, but we could also see the attraction. Escaping from the realities of the world and indulging in relaxation can be a great release.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We took the earliest time to check in and it was worth it!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The service at the dining rooms were all great. The food overall was good, but there were some not too good dishes as well, so be careful. If you don't like something in the main dining room, you can always get something else.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We liked the game show Love and Marriage, it's a bit risque so not suitable for children. There were many other activities that we just chose not to participate in.
Entertainment

See my review of the game show above.
Children's Programs
We have no small children, it was just me and my wife.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff go above and beyond to make things right for you, so no issues there.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We were glad we chose a smaller ship, I can see it would be very difficult to navigate your way around a larger ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The bed was very comfortable. There were plenty of hangars, so even though we brought some, it wasn't necessary. There is plenty of storage space in the room as well. The balcony was spacious and offered an excellent view of the ocean as well.
Ship tip
VOOM is the onboard internet service, and my device kept getting knocked off the network, which was frustrating. Also call your mobile service provider to find out how they charge for calls away from port. We kept our phone on airplane mode to avoid roaming charges and couldn't make any calls.
Although it was a pretty destination, we thought the shop keepers were way too pushy, and the prices were way too expensive in our opinion, so haggle with them and they will sometimes give you a better deal.
Cruising is not for everyone, but I see you went on a much older ship. I'm not sure your reason, but a bigger newer ship like Symphony or Harmony of the Seas has a lot more to do and the Royal Promenade is like a city street inside the ship. Maybe give one of these a try before you give up on cruising.
I know cruising is not for everyone although I don’t understand why. Everything is there for you and only have to unpack once. Delicious food, as much as you want, activities and shows or just relax by the pool or on your balcony. Great ports. What’s there not to like? Cruising is the best vacation ever!!!
Hi…Our first cruise was on the Rhapsody of the seas which is the same class ship with the Grandeur (21 years ago). If you haven’t tried the bigger ships with Royal Caribbean like the Voyager or Oasis class ships, you might find cruising a lot more fun. The bigger newer ships have so much more activities onboard and fantastic entertainment that will not see or do on the older smaller ships in their fleet. If you live close to Galveston, the port is finally getting the Allure of the seas, my favorite class ship of Royal, it’s a super fun ship.⚓️
