Review summary

Fun and small cruise with my best friend on Grandeur!

Embarkation

Going through the Galveston terminal always goes by like a breeze. I basically never stood for longer than 30 seconds. It was easy to navigate and the staff was super curteous and helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The restaurants and buffets on the ship were great. The staff was always helpful and the food on board was excellent. The rooms were decorated beautifully too. We only went to the Main Dining Room (MDR), Windjammer, Park Cafe, and some of the bars on board. Windjammer was the best for Breakfast! Park Cafe had pizza available as late as 1AM. We ate at the MDR every single night with wonderful service. The food here was excellent. There were some nights at the buffet that had some interesting themes but we just could not miss a night at the MDR. One night, I did try to get a snack at the Windjammer and it was supposed to be Mexican Fiesta night, or something. I was a little disappointed with the food. It seemed a bit lacking. MDR is the way to go for dinner.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We participated in Bingo, Karaoke, game show nights, watched some of the shows on board, and watched the Sexiest Man contest on the pool deck. Overall, it was all super fun with the crew always making it entertaining. They knew how to keep it lively and exciting!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
On this specific sailing, they had Don Gavin for the comedian show. Phenomenal comedian, extremely hilarious and relatable humor. The broadway style show was also insanely good. Even with the ship severely rocking from side to side during the rough seas, they managed to pull off the entire show. The musicians during the live karaoke did amazing, always made sure to improvise and help the person singing get back on beat. Great crew overall.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The ship is obviously out dated. On days that rained, there were leaks in the Windjammer and our cabin had a small leak on the window. People left plates of food from room service outside in the hallways. They were rarely picked up until the stewards needed to do their rounds while we were out in the afternoon/night time. Lots of drink glasses were left in random parts of the ship. I wouldn’t necessarily blame the ship itself but the passengers on that. The cups not being picked up right away has to do with short handed staff, of course. Everything else was amazing, though. Easy to get around on a small ship, everything is located conveniently. Grandeur of the Seas was nice overall, just don’t expect the best of the best. It’s a “just right” kind of ship!

Cabin / Stateroom

Overall spacy cabin, loads of storage space and very comfortable. We had one small leak from the window when it rained but it was minor.

Ship tip

The ship is outdated and small but the staff make sure to keep it lively and entertaining. Expect more movement than normal on the seas and get to know people! You will always run into them on your cruise.

Disembarkation

Saddest day of them all. Pretty simple experience exiting the ship. Unlike my experience on Enchantment of the Seas (2019), where they had us in line going around three decks and around the ship to exit, Grandeur simply had boarding groups. Everyone left accordingly and earlier than needed. We were able to get breakfast in the MDR, which was just enough of what we needed to prevent any extra spendings on our drive back home.
