Had I known that gluten free options were not always going to be available and that wheelchairs to get on and off the ship were not available, I probably would not have taken this trip. I was assured in advance that I would get wheelchair transport on and off the ship.
Embarkation

I needed a wheelchair but there was up to a 45 minute wait for one just to go through the security line. They only had one wheelchair and one transport person. I walked and then was able to get a wheelchair to get onto the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

I was registered as "gluten free" prior to the cruise but when we ate lunch one day in the dining room there were no gluten free options on the menu.
Onboard Activities

Trivia, Karaoke, Dancing, Sushi making class, Massage
Entertainment

Nothing was terribly exciting.
Service and Staff

My only complaint is that when I asked for a wheelchair to get on and off the ship I was greeted with blank stares as if no one understood me. Wheelchair transport on and off the ship was not available in most ports. I heard things like they only had one wheelchair or they didn't understand what I wanted or the port wouldn't allow it.

Public restrooms were not on every deck.

The size was better than we had imagined it would be. This was our first cruise.
Ship tip
Be careful if you need wheelchair assistance getting on and off the ship.
RC excursion to Kenenbunkport was okay. Tour guide chatted way too much without giving us much information. The bus drove round and round before it parked so we could get off. We had 70 minutes for lunch and shopping and the first restaurant had a 60 minute wait.
Excursion ended at the same time we were do back on the ship. I would recommend that this excursion starts earlier and ends earlier so we don't have to allow us plenty of time to get back on the ship.
RC excursion to Peggy's Cove and Titanic Cemetery. Again, my only comment is that this should start earlier and end earlier. Ending time was the time we were do back on the ship.
Hi Ruthie,
I hate to see someone's first cruise not go as well as it could! I thought I would hate it and never tried until my early 50's, 13 in the past 5 years since. I am not handicapped so cannot truly advise you on the issues. I have been on a sister ship to Grandeur (Enchantment) and they may not be the most accessible ships as they are older. Some of the bigger ships might be better. There is a YouTube channel called Cruising with Wheels, one of the couple is in a chair. They discuss these issues quite a bit and are also more than willing to respond to comments from viewers. I also spent a short amount of time working for a major airline, make them aware of your needs and they are required by law in the US to provide several timely services, make sure the request prints out on your boarding pass! I hope you give it another shot!
check with crown and anchor. we cruised with royal for many years and they have always had wheel chairs available for on and off at embarkation and debarkation.
