Review summary

Our 45 year reunion was an outstanding success! Can't wait for more! It was a perfect way to celebrate, the group was able to have a private happy hour in a conference room one evening. My main negative is the new policy of charging corkage fees for bringing personal wine bottles to the dining room. I completely disagree with this to the point where I didn't but any alcohol, and perhaps got less enjoyment than I would have otherwise. Wish they would reverse that policy. It is a big dissatisfier for me.

Embarkation

We had a long wait for the shuttle from hotel to cruiseport, but once there it went smoothly. I was lucky to get the short line for platinum members, so that can be an incentive for the rest of you to build up more cruises and get that benefit!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
my time dining service was excellent. We loved our waiters. Breakfast in the dining room, not as good. Windjammers was fine for breakfast and lunches, (although I had to ask for yogurt at lunch. It only is set out at breakfast). The chef's table dinner was the dining highlight of the cruise. Outstanding.

Onboard Activities

Didn't use most of those features. I based my time dining reservations on previous experience in Rhapsody where the production shows were regularly at 6:30 with a second later show. The shows on Grandeur were pretty much once only and timing didn't work except for one late night adults only comedian.

Entertainment

Not enough shows available. See above.

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
With the exception of one bad experience in the main dining room the staff did an excellent job in accommodating our group of 15.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The pool area was pretty crowded with all the kids.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Adequate. Nothing grand but well cleaned and attended multiple times every day and excellent storage space. Shower head makes a wonderful spray!! Wish there was a refrigerator.

Ship tip

Make my time dining reservations ahead of sailing. If there is a way to find out show schedule in advance that would be a plus.

Ports of call

Baltimore, Maryland

Had a night in port pre cruise and found some excellent steamed crabs at Locust Point Steamers.

King's Wharf, Bermuda

Lovely, clean and friendly. We did the 5 hr motor tour so we could see St Georges, and snorkeling at the snorkel park. It was a short walk, and the reef was just off shore. Lots of corals and some colorful fish but not the most I've ever seen. Really needed more time in port to see the sights of the area adequately. I did not have time for shopping.

Disembarkation

Very smooth. Found out hotel shuttle ready to leave but they had room for us. No wait! Travel leaving town was a whole lot better on Thursday than what we experts coming in on Friday before the cruise. I-95 travelers beware.
