The cruise started out a little rough with a delay getting on the ship and leaving port. Apparently there was issues clearing the contractors with CBP and engine issues- which would later effect us getting to Bermuda. The first night was very rough and the second day I was not feeling so hot, but stayed by the pool and relaxed. The ship is smaller than some of the oasis ships we had been on recently, and shorter, so there was a bit of an adjustment. I didn't think it was so bad, but my boyfriend and his family said no more small ships. My boyfriend was a bit bored and missed the bigger ships, but I didn't mind it and made the most of it. His family booked this on our last cruise and thought we had a balcony, so it was a bit disappointing, but that didn't stop us. I ended up getting a massage and it was a bit strange. The room wasn't as dark as the rooms usually are and felt the movement more than ever so it was hard for me to relax. I wouldn't call it a bad cruise overall, but i've had better.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
This was the first cruise after dry dock and I had expected to go straight to the ship given there was no debark, but upon arrival, the terminal was filling up and embarkation had not started just yet. Cruising out of Baltimore was a first for us and it was super convenient being we live but 20 minutes away. The staff were still great, and got us on the fast they could. The delay was out of their control and I understood that, however, I learned there was some issues with the ship or engine and that is why we did not leave the port until about 8pm or so
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was on point as always and the service was great. They always accommodated us if there were issues and I appreciate it. That is the service I had grown to love with this cruise line. Drinks were good, and we bought the drink package. I like that they had the drink of the day, and there was a bar on the same floor as our cabin and main dining room. Ate in the windjammer only a few times and found the solarium bistro which was great for a quick lite bite to eat.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Activities were okay.. Smaller ship and a more seasoned cruise director, so it had a more laid back feel. Did the walk for the turtles one day, but it was SUPER windy on the track
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Sat at the R bar and watched the magician walk us through some tricks... Most of the entertainment was from watching the dancers and singers practice... Never did watch their show. The disco night was tough because it was a small ship and different levels were crowded
Children's Programs
Did not have any kids
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Staff was always great! Steward always greeted me, bartenders were friendly and the head waiter was always accommodating if I missed my seating or had a conflict
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
First time being on a smaller ship after many larger ones so it felt underwhelming. Being there was a dry dock, I had expected to be wow'd, but was just okay.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
We thought we had booked a balcony cabin, but it was an ocean view. Felt smaller and a bit cramped (and yes I have been in everything from an inside to a balcony). The hallways just felt smaller too, but again, it was an adjustment from the size of ships. Cabin was always clean and well kept.
Ship tip
Easy ship to get around given the size. Solarium will fill up and is pretty hot because of the glass enclosure and size. The bistro is hidden in the back but good for a quick bite or lite bite to eat
The first day I had gone out with family and took the water taxi to another part for shopping. Was not thrilled and didn't do any official excursions. Second day I stayed on the ship and had a nice time by the pool relaxing. Would have liked to try the local brewery or another small excursion. Family went to a beach the second day and loved it.
Did the express debark and it was a bit slow moving through the gangway and breezeway. Walk off is the way to go. Got out, got an Uber and went home pretty smoothly
