Review summary

Once we accepted the fact that the Grandeur was not the Mariner, we thoroughly loved the ship. That is the problem with sailing on a larger ship first and not a reflection of the Grandeur itself. Excellent seamanship. We tied up in a space that seemed smaller than the ship itself. That gave confidence in the Captain and his crew. The Captain kept of informed of where we were and ETAs. The best testimony that we can give is that we have already opened a NextCruise account. We have never been disappointed with Royal Caribbean whereas we did hear compliants from customers on other cruise lines while on the PTB ferry.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate too much!!! Loved the potato and jalapeno soup and that was just an appetizer. It only got better from there. We liked the scheduled seatings and reserved tables. There was no waiting. We had friends.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I felt privileged to meet Lance Ringnald and to pose with him. What a unique presentation. Good job Simeon. We scheduled a second dining seating to take advance of the evening shows without feeling rushed. it was a good decision. I took the digital photography class and my wife took three scrapbboking classes. Lot's of options.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We loved the restaurant staff particularly Robert and Yessica. We wanted to bring them home with us as friends. They went above and beyond just serving food. We looked forwarded to them more so than eating. We did not have as much interaction with other staff members but still an overall positive experience.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean and was constantly being cleaned.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
As stated in the CONs, it would be unfair to compare the Grandeur to the Mariner. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed the ship. The shower, while not self contained, was not able keep the water off of the deck. Not a show stopper. The stateroom was always clean and cleaned as soon as we left the room. Everything worked except our cell phone did not charge properly.

Ports of call

King's Wharf, Bermuda

3 out of 5
At first, I had wished that the ship had visited more than one port. After traveling through Bermuda on a public bus and meeting the local people, it was the better choice. Rained cancelled our Snorkel Park plans and theDestination Dockyard Festival. King's Wharf forces one to extend beyond itself and to see the entire island. Therefore it is a good port whereas with Hamilton or St George's , this may not have happened.
Don't Miss: Boat and bike tour- Excellent inspite of the rain. Worth the money!!

Pros: The port of Baltimore was very convenient for us

Cons: Smaller than Mariner of the Seas but that would be unfair. We had to make adjustment. After that, we totally loved the ship and the restaurant staff
