Review summary

My husband uses an electric chair and I use a walker. The situation with the elevators was very frustrating. On new cruise ships it would be nice to have a ramp in the Atrium area where you need to go from one floor to another so often.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was good, except for the elevators.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The dining room was good, the buffet food was not to my liking. Wished there was somewhere to purchase snacks.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We did not participate in outdoor activities as we are disabled.

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Our room was clean. Our server, Yerico, in the Da Vinci dining room was exceptional.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The accessibility was very good. We would not have been able to go on the cruise in any other type of cabin.

Ship tip

Bring snacks.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Should not have people unloading for the next cruise at the same time as those loading luggage for disembarkation.

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Yes at certain times of day the elevators can be very frustrating on all ships. We have started getting on no matter what direction it’s going as eventually it’s going to get us where we are going.

There is free food available 24 hours a day at the International Cafe. I'm assuming that tha issues you have with elevators in amid ships. If you use the aft or forward elevators there is little or no wait. Although you both have mobility issues, a little extra walk to avoid elevator frustration may be worth it.

Agreed. It seems the Grand’s elevators were designed & built by the same guy who invented “slow motion.” Had many short conversations with a number of great shipmates while waiting, tho’.

Yes, I agree that at least one elevator should be prioritized for disability. Watching able bodied people push in front of a lady, (quite elderly & using a walker), on our last cruise was awful. I raised this issue at the time with some of those, "pushy" passengers. Most apologized, not realizing what they'd done & let the lady in. Please everyone, let's use the stairs when we can, or at least put ourselves in their shoes & give priority to those with physical disabilities, so everyone can enjoy a wonderful cruise :)

You should be able to get and is in the shops, but there is literally food everywhere.

For those who need to use the elevators on any cruise ship or line...you need to travel opposite the crowd then ride it to your desired destination ...and on cruises longer than ten days there will be greater demand on elevators with more folks using wheelchairs walkers and scooters...so you will have to plan to arrive early or late to avoid the hassle ...if patience is an issue then perhaps cruising is not the appropriate vacation... my wife has mobility issues and when it involves only one deck of travel I ask for a volunteer to take the stairs and normally a healthier person gives a slot and I tell my blushing bride that I will meet her at our destination while I take the stairs

They should have a separate elevator for handicapped. My brother has a scooter and I sometimes use a lightweight fold up wheel chair. We were on the Allure in November and it was very hard getting elevator where we could all fit. And when we did get one there were those who just crammed in because they didn’t want to wait.
