Review summary

This is a beautiful cruise...great photo opportunities ...if you can stay up late the night sky is magnificent ...and on two nights the northern lights were spotted...also coming and going whales were spotted

Embarkation

Embarkation was tree sweet smooth...from the time we exited the Bay Bridge until we set foot on the Grand Lady was 30 minutes...they are very good at moving folks along ...lunch in the main dining room is ok...but Alfredo’s Pizza on deck five is amazing and a nice way to start your cruise...food is available from the time you board ...but remember that the cabins will not be available until noon...so you might have to drag your carry on with you...so take into consideration what you carry on...sail away on deck 14 midship is the main party...but deck 16 aft has a great view of the bay and it is not crowded and there are places to sit

The buffet is ok for a buffet...during busy times tables are hard to find...try the covered pool area outside of the buffet...plenty of room and the outside weather is minimized...Alfredo’s pizza on deck 5 looks like an extra cost restaurant but it is a no cost dining location...the pizza is hot and fresh and made to order...they have a menu but you can order whatever toppings they have...sadly they do not offer a sausage topping...note that all drinks except for water carry a charge...even iced tea, milk and coffee...the Intetnational cafe has great sandwiches, salads and desserts and they are open 24 hours...the Crown Grill has great steaks and chops...I sadly chose a lobster and was disappointed...my wife had a steak and raved about it

Onboard Activities

Loved the trivia ..challenging with different categories...sadly the evening trivia’s cannot be participated with if you have second seating...the massage therapist helped resolve a sharp pain in my neck ...the pop star choir was fun with some new songs thrown in and the passengers were lined up for the performance and very appreciative.

The cabin steward for cabin E717 was very friendly and would resolve issues swiftly...he gave us great service...our waiter in Botticelli table 236 gave excellent service...always offering dining recommendations and when she noticed that you might not be fully enjoying your dining experience she was swift with offering an alternative recommendation ...was very disappointed in the service provided at Crooners...the drinks are tasty...but it might behoove you to pick up your drink at the bar

Just consider the cabin as a place to sleep, shower and change...love the bed...and really love the new television set up...lots of current on demand movies...and no Princess ads...you not only see the movies when you want...but if you have to stop watching for any reason the movie will give you the option to either start over or resume at the stopping
