Review summary
It was a quick “three dayer”.
This was different than a typical three day reposition cruise. Those kind of cruises can have an atmosphere of feeling rushed with a staff vibe that feels awkward.
This was actually a segment of a month long cruise headed to Australia. Some people like me were headed to just San Francisco, some to SoCal, and some to Hawaii. But ultimately the ship was on a long cruise and the staff’s attitude reflected that. Not sure why short reposition cruises result in a soar staff. But on this cruise I didn’t meet any staff members that were unhappy campers.
I had a good relaxing time. Meet several nice people. Went to a few “game shows”.
Embarkation

Most people were already onboard by the time it arrived at YVR. I got there same day and showed up at the counter in the afternoon for the 11pm departure. They weren’t using the main check in area. It was a small counter and there was hardly anyone checking in, only four employees working the counter, only one couple ahead of me in line. It was super fast when I got to the counter. Even faster getting into the ship.

Entertainment

There was one woman in particular that sang in the Wheelhouse Lounge. She sang there at least two nights. She was outstanding!
Children's Programs
I have no children.
Service and Staff

This staff is great.

I love these Grand Class Ships. The Golden Princess is getting a bit worn out around the edges but I still enjoyed being in this ship. It’s suppose to go to P&O line in a year or two, unless the companies changed their minds. I hope they do change their minds. I hope the Golden stays in the Princess line up.

Comfortable room and the air conditioning actually worked!!!!!
I went on the whale watching excursion. We saw several killer whales including a group that was hunting and caught their prey.
I wish I had gone into the city instead. All onboard was 1pm and the whale watching got back at noon. So I went straight back to the ship, didn’t want to risk missing the ship.
I do recommend the whale watching excursion but just don’t plan on doing much else afterwards.
Seems to me the cruise lines are decreasing their times in Victoria. They’re staying just long enough to satisfy the law requirements about stopping in a foreign port.
The Royal Princess’ time was even shorter than ours. It showed up hours after we did and left at the same time we did.
