a pretty good cruise

Sail Date: April 25, 2010

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

We enjoyed this cruise. We loved the food and the amenities on board. We loved the movies under the stars even though it was a bit cold.

The exercise room was a challenge - being very small and having to wait in line for a turn on the elliptical machine. 15 work out machines for 2,800 people wasn't accommodating.

I was disappointed with the entertainment as it was too crude and trashy for my taste. Half of the ship was British so maybe they were catering to them. The singing was terrible and the shows were distasteful.

Pros: the food was excellent

Cons: the entertainment was disappointing

Recommends Golden Princess? Yes!

There were some fun activities on the schedule, like lei making, but the entertainment was terrible.
Ship Quality
this is a newly refurbished ship - everything was great. I appreciate the designated smoking areas as I didn't want to get lung cancer on a 15-day cruise and have to be around others poor health habits.
Food and Dining
we had optional time dining, which wasn't as nice as having the same people and waiter every night, but it was more flexible. We loved the food.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had the cheapest room - but it was enough for us.
Service and Staff
Most of the ship was very friendly and spoke the best English as they could.
Lahaina, Maui
We took a free shuttle to a local beach and loved it.
Honolulu, Oahu
We went on a tour on a hike through the rain forest. It was a lot of fun.
Hilo, Hawaii
we went on a "Hilo Highlights" tour which was a lot of fun. We went to a waterfall, volcano national park, and a few other stops.
Ensenada, Mexico
Ensenada was a waste of time for us. We did a little shopping, but only found a tablecloth. The souvenirs were overpriced and distasteful. The only excursion available was a tour of the city which sounded boring. It really isn't worth getting of the ship at this port.
Port Allen (Nawiwili), Kauai
We had a lot of fun walking to a nearby beach and boogie boarding. We also liked the free shuttle to local shopping.
