Review summary

I really enjoyed this sailing. So many memories. I went with my highschool classmates to celebrate our 20th reunion and we had a blast.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Boarding the ship was nice and easy as long as you had all the information you needed already in the app. I would like to know more about how to get express boarding though.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food was good to great but wasn’t phenomenal. I don’t feel like Windjammer provided the variety in cuisines I’ve seen in the past. Not as many Indian dishes as I would like and outside of that it was typical American food. I would have liked to see Asian, Mediterranean and other options at times. MDR was great but service was slow. We have a group of 14 so maybe that was the cause.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty to do. Quest was Epic. If you haven’t done it I highly recommend. I will say if you are easily offended it is not the activity for you. Outside of that it’s always some sort of trivia, contest, show or something happening. I will say this if you play Bingo I recommend getting a tablet if you want to increase your chance at winning. Playing with cards only is simply a way of donating money to the cruise line.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
I didn’t attend any of the stage shows but the comedian was funny and the DJs were rocking.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Few of the staff members went above and beyond like we have seen on other sailings. Our room attendant wasn’t the best. Our bed was barely made properly and he usually acted as though simply requests were bothersome. Our MDR waiter and assistant were phenomenal. We had a group of 14 so service was a little slow but they were always attentive and high spirited. Other ship personnel were good but not great to excellent imo.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship seemed clean and the design is still one of my favorites of the mid sized ships. It’s hard to view Freedom as a mid size being that it really is a large vessel. Nonetheless the layout is easy to navigate and you never feel like you have to walk a country mile to find something to do. Other than plates outside cabins I need felt like there was mess anywhere.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin itself is great. Close proximity to both elevators whether you need to go aft or forward. Plenty of storage and closet space which surprised me. Balcony was nice as always. Now the downside which most of you know is the shower. My wife and I aren’t the largest humans by stature and I can say it’s a struggle showering. So be prepared for that if you haven’t cruises before.

Ship tip

Don’t forget to relax. It’s typically a 3-4 day sailing so you could get caught up in trying to spend every moment doing something active. Remember you are on vacation and need to take a moment to relax and enjoy a little peace as well.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Our first sailing we made the mistake of leaving our bags out and felt like it cost us a lot of time so now we self disembark. It was a breeze. I love the new facial recognition technology so you don’t need to take out your passports. Gangway opened at 7:30 am we were standing outside of our shuttle by 7:40 am.
