Review summary

This is a great cruise for a weekend getaway. We always recommend these weekend getaways to people who live in the area.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy to board. We had already check in on the Royal app on our phone. After that when we got to the port we just had to show our sail pass, a copy of our negative COVID test and covid vaccine card. Took less than 10 minutes to go through check in and security. No complaints.

Ship experiences

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were a lot of activities for sure. But a lot of the classic activities, game shows and adult game shows were not on this cruise. Not sure if it was because COVID or what.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Comedians were very funny. The adult show is of course always funnier than the first night comedy show for everyone.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship all and all was clean and the top deck was completely revamped and really fun and enjoyable. Our state room however was very old and the bathroom had rust in a lot of areas and the toilet did not work for almost 2 full days. Other than that the room itself was clean. Dining halls and buffets all clean and nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Unfortunately this was our first bad experience with our room on Royal and no it’s not their standard. Our bathroom was very old and outdated. In addition to that our toilet didn’t work most of the weekend and repeatedly needed to be fixed. It was odd. Other than that our room was very large. Comfy bed and clean in the main area.

Ship tip

Give it a try because it’s a fun ship for a weekend getaway.

Disembarkation

Very smooth. Now at the port of Miami they use facial recognition so you don’t need to even pull your passport out.
