Had the best time! While... by levi3

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Had the best time! While the ship is on the older side, it has some fantastic amenities (promenade, flow rider, mini golf to name a few) and will only get better after its renovation next year. We did the Baltics and it was the most fantastic itinerary! Highly recommend the Explorer to the Baltics!

Overall very enjoyable. Lots of announcements and continuous hard sell. Also more and more privelige being shown. Elitism gone made.

Good cruise let down by poor food and entertainment by Harmonuk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We are ‘serial cruises’ with many different cruise lines over the last 25 years. On the whole Royal Caribbean suits us best. However although the ports of call were all good, the food and entertainment did did match our expectations of what we have come to expect from Royal Caribbean.

Wonderful as expected by Shelleybristow

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This was my 5th RC cruise. I love the company and ships. I wasn’t overly impressed with our itinerary but decided to do a local cheaper cruise rather that a Carribean cruise and stay. Weather wasn’t great. Cloudy and cold wind.

Great Cruise to France, Spain, & Portugal by worldviews2024

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

This cruise was fantastic! The ports and excursions were excellent! The excursion to Versailles was monumental! The food was great especially Chops Grille and Giovanni’s table. However, I really didn’t need the refreshment package as I drank mostly in the Windjammer.

Had a cruise to The... by philcole

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Had a cruise to The Canaries on Explorer of the Seas starting on 14 May19. Nice ship but unlike her sister ships (Adventure and Navigator) we found a distinct lack of seating in certain bar areas and the lack of a Vintages Wine Bar. At times this meant that you either had to stand or go elsewhere. I can’t understand why the Art Gallery has been moved from deck 3 to deck 4 opposite the Tavern bar. This has seriously restricted use of this bar as the seating is already limited. The service was excellent and the majority of the staff went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed ourselves. Overall a nice ship but I would have to seriously think twice about sailing on her again.

Lovely but not as good as previous RCL cruises. by Bambis

Nice break but quality of cruise has dropped dramitically. Dissapointing and they are charging so much more.

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Enjoyed our 10 days on Explorer of the Seas but disappointed with the finer details: cleanliness, timings of entertainment, quality of restaurant food & consistency of service. Very disappointed that in 10 days we only managed to get into Dizzys once as it appeared to be permanently reserved for diamond members.

Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Ship can use an upgrade, big cleaning, paintjob etc. Staff was super nice, helpfull. Entertainment could have been better. Really liked the zumba classe and the ice show. The pub on the promenade is a nice place to spend some time and have a drink. Food delicious and fresh and a lot of variation imo

Adventured to The Canary Islands... by mzemma

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Adventured to The Canary Islands from Southampton on Explorer. I usually sail on smaller sized ships so there were a lot of new things to see and explore! Junior Suite was more than enough room for 2 friends to share and be comfortable in without feeling crowded! All excursions were done through RC and each one was well organized, informative, interesting and fun. Ate in all the speciality restaurants as well the main dining room and the food and service was excellent in all. The only issue I had was the Windjammer became difficult to navigate as the space between food stations is much too narrow, and the tables are really packed together tightly so getting by people to get to a table was often disruptive to those eating. Another problem was that all the bars were all so crowded every night that there was difficulty finding a spot to relax and have a drink. Even when the shows were playing each bar was packed with people! I liked the fact the pool deck was so large and there was never an issue of finding a seat, even on sea days! The ship was clean and comfortable and the staff was great! Would enjoy being on her again, but I think I still prefer the smaller ones.

Been home now for 2... by Nelmer

Sail date: /
Ship: Explorer of the Seas

Been home now for 2 days and in reflection the ship should be going in for an upgrade and refurb. Whilst the staff we came in to contact with were polite and friendly the over standard on the ship was poor. Our room 8550 had mould on shower door, close door fittings on cupboards, curtains were dirty and door to balcony was covered coffee splashes and balcony also in need of a repaint. Food in main restaurant wasn't great, leave the steaks well alone, resembled a soul of a worn out shoe. Not cup and saucers for after dinner coffee it was all breakfast mugs and chairs were all marked and chipped. Did enjoy the gym and pool areas, again need a good clean and they need to inforce the 30 minute reserve sun lounger rule as no towels were removed. Over all we've had a great holiday, enjoyed destinations and entertainment when it was on was good just a shame ship was from dark ages.

Good Holiday by traceyfowler

Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

After cruising on Royal Carribean I think I’m done for the time being . They need to update their entertainment program . There are only so many times that you can watch the Rock Britannia / Take That /Quest/70’s night ./Strings Ice show. Come in Royal Caribbean change up the entertainment.
