Great cruise! Beautiful views all around! by menardca

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We had a great cruise with our kids. The MDR food isn’t good but we dined at the specialty restaurants.

Poor ratings for food by bryantfamily

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I've had better. . . I cruise to be pampered. To experience a lovely meal each evening. To be entertained each evening. The food was abysmal. The ingredients didn't match the description. It was bad enough that you could not walk through any area that had restaurants without being accosted with a request to reserve the premium dining, but they came to your table each evening to push it. If I wanted that kind of experience, I would have gone to Mexico. There wasn't enough entertainment going on each evening. I was told by those who frequented Royal Caribbean that it was just Explorer of the Seas.

Enjoyed our time by photolove

The ports were beautiful! Scenery was amazing! Really enjoyed our hike in Skagway. The guides did an excellent job. The ship is a bit run down, but clean.

Once in a lifetime trip everyone must do by ninirol3234

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

The boat is showing some age, but it's a big boat. The elevators are always a long wait no matter which set you use. There were times we just gave up waiting and walked. Dont really understand what was happening with that. As for the cruise Alaska is stunning, amazing, incredible, insert whatever words you want, it wont do it justice. You must experience it first hand. The most amazing undisturbed place on earth. There is sometime amazing to see at ever corner. Take the helicopter ride to the glacier, it is beyond description. The Scenic White Pass train ride in Skagway is another must do.

Amazing Alaska Cruise! by visualguy200101

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our second Alaska cruise and this was an amazing cruise! The staff was great and makes sure you are always aware of washing your hands to avoid getting sick or others sick. Our room was good. It has some minor issues such as the virtual balcony screen having a shaded section that was more of a technical problem and it was not fixed during our stay. Also, the toilet lid was cracked but they replaced it during our cruise. If you are going to drink alcohol, love Soda or coffee, get the drink package. The itinerary was very good but it would be great if the ship can stay longer in Victoria Canada.

A means to an end by tulsateresa

Once we were getting off the cruise, staff acted like they couldn’t get rid of us fast enough. I probably wouldn’t sail with RC again … I think Disney spoiled us. You need more to do on at sea dats.

lovely ports, disappointing ship experience. by shariirey

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: U.S. - Pacific, Northwest

We waited in line nearly every evening. Once, we were not even given a menu until I finally raised a ruckus and told a captain. I was shocked at little the waiter seemed to care about us.

Our Canadian Get-Away by stewinokla66799

This was the most disappointing cruise we have taken. The stops were not very exciting. On-Board it felt that since it was "Just a 4 day cruise" (which we heard over and over) they just didn't try. We had one show from the onboard performers that was fantastic. The magician didn't do anything original. The tenors were "OK" at best. However, the last night was 70's night. It started with Michael and Danielle ( I think I got the names right) on the bridge in the Promenade it was fantastic. Everyone was dancing and having a great time. Then the activity staff came out and kept the party going. It really was a blast! Why wasn't there things like that going on throughout all four day? I have to say, if it had been my first cruise I might never have made a second. Great Ship- Poor experience.

We had been to all ports before. We just like cruising. After 54 cruises it's still what we like. The food was the most disappointing. I guess they have to cut corners somewhere to keep the ships full.

This was a family cruise, with elderly parents, The weather was sunny but far to cold to enjoy the deck, I would recommend taking it no later than September7th.

Royal Caribbean Cheap Cruise by climer97007

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

Cheap cruise, but, they nickel/dime you to make up the fiffetence. A little bit of false advertising if you ask me. Might be better to pay more up front and get more.

Wonderful Pacific Coast Cruise by du730324

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Explorer of the Seas / Destination: Coastal - West Coast

The cruise with Royal was great. Other than Astoria, OR, I enjoyed all of the ports visited. Check in and departure was very well organized. In years past, it was chaotic but Royal has finally got it down to a science. Will definitely cruise with them again if the itinerary fits our travel plans.
