Review summary

Dated vessel at this point hard to compete with the updated you can get at the same cost. Service in general worked much better in past cruises. Time to try something different

Booked the cruise more than 1 year prior the sealing date. For dinner we booked at 5:30pm as good time for our 3years old child. Surprisingly they gave us not any reservation and booked us for the “your time dining” that start at 6:45pm. Too late for us with our kid becoming too tired to sit quiet at the table. A lot of stress. We enjoyed cruising with RC before with no any issue. Quality is going down. Now we decided to move to MSC for our next trip

If your plan is to get something for your kids, Explorer is not the right cruise. There is almost nothing for kids. Unless you are just looking for the childcare to park your children for some hours, there is no any kids room, playground area. No pool for children or splash areas. The 2 pools are adult-size used also by kids able to swim

Service and Staff

Poor service, almost nobody to clean tables at lunch time. Room: supposed to get a room with sofa bed (as per the booking). Surprisingly the website is not accurate and we got a problem with space for the 3 of us with just a king bed

After the first night of not getting your reservation time all you had to do was explain your situation to the maître d’ on the way out and they would have taken care of it for the rest of your sailing.

We were on the explorer in September and it was the exact opposite dining was wonderful everything was very nice ship was clean cabin was great

Just to point out all the deckplans I see for cabin 8568 indicate it has a Pullman bunk for the 3rd passenger not a sofa bed. Make sure in the future you verify directly will any cruise line exactly what the 3rd or 4th passenger berth actual is.
