Review summary

We enjoyed this cruise as it had 3 stops and 2 sea days over the course of 6 nights. The staff have been excellent, the food has been great too.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
I think from the time we got out of the taxi to being on board was about 20 minutes. The porters didn't pressure us for a tip this time either which was nice too.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
It seems the food and presentation has improved since our last cruise. The menu(s) was the same as before. We didn't try Chops or any other speciality restaurant.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We tried several activities including the rock climbing wall which was fun despite not being great at it. The mini golf was fun too.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
All the entertainment we saw or heard was fantastic. The ice show was very professional and enjoyable. It was the same show we saw prior to lockdown, but we still really enjoyed it

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Cannot fault the staff who looked after us. Our waiters in the main dining room (Carlo and Lalit)were excellent and looked after us well throughout our evening dinner. The room steward (Diolan) kept our room clean and well presented everyday. Other staff to praise - Kimberly and Gusti at the Schooner bar and Jupiter from the Tavern

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
She is an older ship but she is also well maintained and looked after. The cleanliness was very good and I couldn't fault it

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
For the size of cabin it has everything you need and has been well designed. We tend to book interior cabins as it suits us.

Ship tip

There's nothing not to like about Explorer. We prefer the smaller ships such as Rhapsody, but we've been in Explorer twice now and have grown to enjoy this size of ship too

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
The actual port is fine and has many tourist shops, not really any bars or restaurants though. Once you leave the port area you'll be in the town. We didn't like being 'hassled' into wanting a tour everywhere we walked, so we didn't spend very long there. I think the best option is to book a tour prior to arrival. There are some people who offer excursions inside the port area. The prices seemed fair.

Perfect Day At Coco Cay, Bahamas

5 out of 5
The private island has everything you need for a fantastic day in the Bahamas. If you have a drinks package it will transfer onto the island and the food is also all inclusive. Apart from the beaches, there are several pools for use too

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
It's a city and and an expensive city as a tourist

Labadee (Cruise Line Private Island)

5 out of 5
The other private 'island' which has the similar facilities as Cococay. Plenty to do.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We're on a back to back cruise, so it was easy. The only wait was for US customs before being we were all able to reboard.
