Review summary

Explorer of the Seas is a Hugh, beautiful ship that is kept spotless. We opted for the My Time Dining. We made reservations before we left home. The two servers we had each night, Michael and Jeffrey were the best. Always cheerful, polite and just plain nice. The dining room food was incredible. Our room Stewart, not sure of his name but we were in cabin 6525, kept our room clean and always managed to do that while we were out of our room..

San Francisco & Victoria,British Columbia were beautiful and fun. Astoria, Oregon was pretty small and shops old. Not much to do there. People there friendly.

Not enough variety in entertainment although it was very well done

Service and Staff

Michael & Jeffrey in the My Time Dining at 5:30 were efficient and friendly. They were always happy to help with any little extras we asked for.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin Stewart did a great job. Made cute towels creatures each evening. Always cleaned our room when we were out of room

Ship tip

Eat your dinners in the main dining room. More upscale choices. If you use My Time dining make reservations ahead of time, while still at home if possible.

Hop on hop off bus tour is a good choice but pay attention to where you get off because there are no signs to tell you where to pick bus up again. It is an easy walk from the ship to Fisherman's Wharf.

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful. We did the walk from the cruise terminal to Fisherman's Wharf and around into the city. Then took shuttle back to ship.

We just returned from Explorer and also had Michael and Jeffrey (MJ) most nights and found them excellent servers as well. Ate at Giovanni's table on the last night and service was horrible. Finally left after 1 hour and 45 min and hadn't even been offered dessert yet. We reserved two day hop on/off bus pass in SAN Francisco. We especially enjoyed the night tour that was included.

The beachfront and State Street in Santa Barbara are great for walking. The Courthouse and Mission are historic attractions.

We are going to be on the same cruise as you on Oct 30th. I read about the "hot Rod limo" here on CC and we have a 1 hr tour booked with them. Sounds like a fun way to take in the area. : ) I will add a pic

May I ask you about Santa Barbara? We will go the same route in 3 days and we didn't find anything to do there
