Review summary

Without exception, the entrie crew on the Explorer of the Seas does everything imaginable to make their guests happy. The on-boarding process is slow and tiring (see below). Ask for help if you need it. We ordered coffee from room service the first morning and it never arrived. Not a huge deal for us but we did mention it to our waiter. That evening we received 4 specialty cupcakes and an apology. Second night we received a bag of gourmet cookies and apology. Third night a bottle of wine and an apology. It was very apparent they want to make your cruise as perfect as they can.

This balcony room was very comfortable but quite a walk to the dining room/restaurants. Our steward was amazing and seemed to know what we'd need before we asked. We are addicted to our morning coffee so he found us a coffee pot so we could make our own as soon as we got up. (Pots aren't standard except in suites.) Hint: take your own instant beverages to make in your room - they're hard to find onboard.

Ship tip

Don't get in a hurry to buy gifts or extra services (spa, upgraded dining, etc.) Each night you will get a sheet outlining the next day's activities that will have specials - like half price spa day! Significant savings.

The train trip from Port Alberney is fun, but there's an hour plus bus ride to get to the train. The tour volunteers were knowledgeable and friendly and the staff at the saw mill provided a delightful lunch.

The entertainment is AweSuM, ice show is brilliant & the shows every night is great, Had the weird little guys on our Cruz & plenty others. Can't wait to see who is next.. Oh & on the Rhapsody,our first Cruz.. Had, fabba. An abba show.. Elton Jack.. brilliant.. & I interrupter, I mean singing like Stevie Wonder& Elvis & others.. Can never say a bad thing about entertaining on the Royal

The Ice Show was excellent. We didn't catch the other shows but heard they were also very good. Several bars/lounges have enjoyable soft music - a really good guitarist in one (next to the casino).

So nice to hear positives along with minor complaints. Travelling has its ups and downs but so worth it.
