Review summary

This has been a bucket list trip for many years. We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. We are long time cruisers, though this was our first Holland America cruise. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. The ship, Eurodam, was very nicely done. The culinary arts center, which was a main attraction to us, was very enjoyable, especially the cooking classes. The chef cooking challenges were a lot of fun as well. The Panama Canal, as has often been said, is an awesome experience. Being on a ship that is close to the maximum size allowed for the original section of the canal was exciting and fun to experience from a verandah (balcony) cabin during the raising and lowering of the ship within the lockes. On a 16 day trip out of 2100 passengers there were only 11 kids!  We felt very young at 65 years old. Met many very nice people. Would very much recommend Holland America.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We were on open seating and met new people each night, which was actually very enjoyable. The specialty restaurants were all good and the lido deck had very enjoyable options as well.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Onboard there were many fun things to do, such as the culinary arts center and the windows software classes. We also chose to read much more than normal, which for us was enjoyable.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The show entertainment was enjoyable, however, not as sophisticated as many larger ships are nowadays.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Arif our room steward was terrific and helped us with several requests. The willingness in general of all of the staff to help was above par.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This size of the ship was very nice. One end to the other was not a pack a lunch trip. The décor was beautiful artwork and artifacts and just enjoyable to look at.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Enjoyed having a bath tub and xtra large bath towels
