Review summary
Do not go on a Royal Caribbean cruise – their food will make you extremely sick like it made me. It will ruin your vacation as they will isolate you to your room and you’ll be unable to participate in activities onboard or even get off the ship at ports. Here’s my story:
My girlfriend and I departed on the Enchantment on the Seas on January 2nd out of Miami. After eating dinner in the dining room the evening of January 3rd, I woke up the morning of January 4th extremely sick: vomiting with severe diarrhea. I suffered from this food poisoning for a full two days (of a 4 day cruise). I went to the medical center to complain – they were extremely rude and unapologetic that this ship had poisoned me. They gave me Imodium and recommended I stay in the room.
After feeling better some hours later, I tried to leave the ship with my girlfriend to see what the Bahamas had to offer, but found I was isolated to the ship. I then was kicked out of the dining room that night, even though I was already feeling significantly improved. Again, the staff were rude and unapologetic.
My girlfriend and I rarely get to see each other. We get one week of vacation a year. And Royal Caribbean ruined our time together and our vacation. Instead, we were locked in a closet sized room in the interior of the ship during our time off work. When I ordered ginger ale to help my ailing stomach, I was charged for room service.
When talking to guest services and then the manager, I was told there’s “nothing they can do.” Poisoning me and ruining our unpaid vacation and the subsequent treatment I received from Royal Caribbean staff is completely unacceptable and it’s appalling RCCL has done nothing to make this right. In fact, they only thing they did was try to offer me a $60 cruise credit towards a future cruise. The amount is offensive and I never want to take a cruise anyways, so this is useless. If you want to enjoy a vacation, do not go on Royal Caribbean – I never will again.
