Review summary

All in all the cruise was a 7 out of ten, maybe an 8. The ship was well run, VERY clean, had some issues with a small gym, bad location or gym and running track as well as only two decks that one could go from bow to stern. The food was "OK" at best. They need to outstanding as was the entertainment which was top notch. Best cruise director that we have ever had on all of our cruises(Jodie) she should be head of ALL cruise directors. This was only our second Princess cruise, but we would consider taking another one. We rated this up with Royal Caribbean which has always been a great cruise. They (both) are heads above Norwegian for sure. The time of year was perfect weather.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
No direction where to meet other than "baggage" even though Princess had flight # arrival time etc. We waited 4 hours for a "contractor" to show up. She knew nothing and we waited an additional hour with another couple for ther bus to the ship. We were "green line '(express) byut by the time we reahed the port we were behind tons of people extending our wait making all the pre arrangements useless for the most part. ght # time of arrival etc.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Dinning was at best a 6 out of 10. The variety was great, the service was great yet the food not so much. In the "market place" (buffet) Meats all over done, basically tasteless. They listed roast pork but what turned out to be just ham. The staff was over burdened and were slow to refill any drinks. Not enough stations to re-fill your own water, tea and coffee as well. Now the three (included in fare) restaurants were a bit better, but basically a 6-7 on a scale of ten. The service again was great, the selection just OK. and all three restaurants served the exact same menu as the other two did daily. We did not try the "pay additional" specialty restaurants but were told by other passengers that they were excellent.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pool, casino , lounges all good.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We have cruised about 10 times before, this was second Princess. The cruise director Jodie was OUTSTANDING and AMAZING. She truly was always upbeat, friendly, informative and one could tell that she loved her work. She was the best cruise director that we ever encountered on any cruise, Every show that was performed was excellent, EVERY one. The entertainment on this ship was the best ever. All comedians were hilarious, the dancers and singers were outstanding and the main act (Air Supply) was great.

Children's Programs

no children with us and only a dozen on the ship LOL

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff and service was outstanding, amazing every one of then worked hard, were professional and helpful. They were over worked and over burdened at times but worked with a smile.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Design not perfect, only two decks that a passenger could walk from bow to stern making it difficult to get from one end to another since everyone had to use those two decks. . The gym was small and the running track was small and allowed people who were not even there to exercise to running or walking to work out. The cleanliness of the ship was outstanding. Everywhere we went was clean, we saw crew cleaning and painting the ship and were consistently working hard to maintain the excellent condition of the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cleanliness, size and location was good. The staff excellent. One could control temperature, had local TV, movies, TV series etc all on the room TV and free.

Ship tip

Dont expect great food, just OK. But expect great even outstanding service and entertainment. But also know that moving from one end of the ship to the other was tedious due to only having 2 decks that went the length of the ship. Dont expect a good gym or running track either..

Great, MUCH different than embarkation! Ran smoothly, got us to JFK in a timely manner. Baggage handled well and efficiently.
