Review summary

If you want a short cruise and like spending 2 of 5 days just sailing, this is the one for you. Havana is worth the effort and that effort is well rewarded. Staff and food are better than one would expect

The food was excellent and plentiful. Cuban themed specialties were on each dinner menu, along with more "American" options

This smaller and older ship had much less offered, but young and fit cruisers had options

There were different shows each night. Regular dancers and singers were good. The headliners were very good

The service was excellent. The staff was exceptional in every way.

Everything was clean and updated. Rear balconies, however, were dirty from smokestack discharge and should be cleaned daily

The size was more than adequate for two people. The balcony made it even more pleasant. The beds are very comfortable.

Ship tip

Don't expect what you find on a mega ship. The Empress offers what is needed and the staff goes out of their way to cater to your needs

Key West is great for first time visitors. It is getting old for frequent visitors

Old Havana is everything one could expect. The old city walking tour is superb. The added bus ride is pleasant but the visits to a cigar factory and a rum factory worthless for those not interested
