This was a nice cruise but would never return on such a small ship. Watch it if you pay onboard expenses at the end of the cruise with a canadian credit card. They tranfer your amount in canadian at a rate of 1.42$ exchange rate. This was abusive as our own institution charge us only 1.31$. They should advise people of that in advance so we would have paid cash or they could have charge it in US money and our institution would have done it.
To conclude, as other RCCL ships you are not able to view your account on television and follow your expenses. They give it to you only the morning of disembarkation so that doesn't give you a lot of times to verify it as you were not able to follow it. I must add that the Crown and Anchor members are not recognized as they were in the past. They used to make you feel important but not anymore. We only had a cocktail with the captain and other rebates that you can only use at certain times but as I said several times during this review, the magic of RCCL is not there anymore.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
It was fast and smooth. We were able to go immediately at our cabin. The luggages were fastly delivered.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The variety and the taste of food was excellent in both in dining room and buffets although not always hot at the buffets. They now ask people to wash their hands at the windjammer which is an excellent idea wow! It is unfortunate that they don't pass anymore with the shooter of the day with the little collectable glass.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The ship is very small so it is hard to participate at there is a lot of people while at sea. I find unfortunate that they don't use the big screen at the pool deck to project the activity held around the pool so people all over that deck can see what's going on. At least if we cannot participate we can see.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
People are very dedicated to their work and polite and always smyling. But as a RCCL past passengers we find that the magic is not there anymore unfortunately. They used to dance around the pool deck and entertained people while holding a full tray so you could choose what you like. They used to give the glass for the drink of the day and we liked a lot.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Personnel is doing an excellent job.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship is well maintained everywhere. But the glasses at the dining room are discusting and full of spots from the washing machine. Never saw that before on RCCL ships. As I stated before the magic points are not there anymore. I would never serve a drink in a glass like that at home. The water taste awfully bad.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was perfect and very clean. Always well maintained. but no mini fridge so we bought some waters and colas and we had not ask for ice. The nice person was bringing some constantly but you can only put a couple of bottles in it. Mini fridge would have been really nice.
Ship tip
Again as it is a small ship peope go early in the morning to reserve pool chairs by leaving a towell on it which is supposed not to be permitted. They sometime come back only around 11:00 in the morning. As there is not enough pool chairs for all the people it was kind of frustrating. They only applied their no reserving policy on the second day at sea. Also I broke my wheel chair on the big joint at the theater. It is very rough.
We did the visit on counch train it was ok and we visited the aquarium and it doesn't worth the money. It is not well maintened some tanks are leaking and they just put kinds of towell to hold the water from leaking on the floor. The variety of species are very limited. Been there 10 minutes. Not accessible everywhere in a wheel chair.
First the port is not served by a shuttle and we were misinformed. As I broke my wheelchair on the boat I only used my cane as I didn't want to bring RCCL chair out of the ship. The walk was very long. We had booked a resort for the day called Maya Chan but not via RCCL cause it was not offered. They came to get us but we had to walk all the sreet down because they are Locals and they cannot enter the ports. So if you have legs problems, better book via Rccl. Our day was wonderful at Maya Chan. It was not the best beach I saw and not the best installations I saw on a trip but we really enjoyed the full day. They have water chairs, cayak and standing boards. The personnel is always there around to help you and serve you a drink even in the water. The little guy was coming back and forth to bring you something. As it is a place limited resort we were approximately 25-30 people and that was very nice. It was like a day at the spa. Very relaxing!! The food was excellent and all you can eat. We would return anytime.
Love this smaller ship. You’re right it doesn’t have the technology of the larger ships. You can check you sea pass account at the desk. I haven’t seen them offering those specialty shooter or give away glasses for drink of the day in many years on any of their ships. I have no desire to board one of those mega ships, just not for me. I like to relax on vacation, not be on a schedule.
