Review summary

In hindsight there were too many sea days but I knew this when I booked the cruise. In the future I will look for more ports of call

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Had transfer from LGA, went smoothly and on the ship within minutes

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Lots of lines and waiting in the MDR even when I made reservations 5 months ago. Other ships have done a better job. Food was good, wait staff also very good. The controller at the gate not so much. I like the buffet on the ship. Much easier than the newer ships. I generally like to eat breakfast outside at the end of the ship but wait staff were non existent. I’m not helpless so I got my own coffee ☕️ and utensils and still enjoyed the time. Buffet in general was fine and food was good.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Used the Promenade deck for running, being respectful of the walkers. Hot tubs were just right. Pools were crowded but could find a spot if needed. Didn’t do much else except read a couple books

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Didn’t go to many shows but did go to the voice of the seas and was impressed. The house band wAs good and just hearing music around the ship created a nice atmosphere

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All in all they were professional and willing to help. Our room steward had a little attitude but that may be on me trying to get into my room on embarkment before it was ready. He was good at his job but not very personable

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Love this, now older ship. Love the ability to walk or run around the ship on a couple different floors. Have been on the Emerald when it first started sailing. Not much has changed. It is well kept

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Been on the Emerald a number of times and knew what to expect. The balcony was bigger than I remember and the TV is now on the wall instead of sitting on the shelf, which is an improvement

Ship tip

Just relax and take it all in, remember nothing is going to be perfect

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth

Thank you for your review. The Emerald and Ruby to me are perfect size. Thanks for sharing.

Great review and thanks for being fair. Yes the stewards can be a little stressed on embarkation day and if people get into the rooms before they finished cleaning it, they will give bad reviews because the room wasn’t cleaned. I’ve learned to just be patient and wait for the all clear to enter rooms announcement.

I enjoy sea days but I like port days better because I feel like I have the ship to myself!!
