Embarkation from San Antonio (Santiago) went quickly and smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Food was generally disappointing in variety and taste in the dining rooms and buffets. I’m a veteran of 20 cruises on six cruise lines and the food on Emerald Princess was certainly among the worst two or three of my cruises. The buffet was notable in that you could not order fresh eggs and hot food served at all meals was generally servied cold. The dining room menus were uninspired.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Typical shipboard activities, although port expert talks were excellent.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Staff were generally helpful friendly, attentive and responsive, although I went to the purser’s desk twice with questions and never received a promised response.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
You should always carry a map of the ship because frequently you find that there is no direct route from point A to point B. There is inadequate public space. The ship has a tired feel about it.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Junior suite was roomy for two with adequate storage space. Beds were comfortable although couch was old and worn.

Ship tip

If there is another ship on this itinerary, take it.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

4 out of 5

People stacked up everywhere disembarking in Buenos Aires. Inadequate facilities.

It's a shame you didn't enjoy the Emerald. We've sailed on her a couple of times and the food was always excellent. With regards to a map of the ship, it's one of the first things you receive at check-in. Buffet was also good and so were the fresh eggs that you "could" order, I'm guessing you couldn't find the egg guy - but then again, he's not on the map.🤣
